This incredibly dangerous Christmas tree is actually a spinning holographic display.

Creator Sean Hodgins connected a chain of individually-addressable RGB LEDs to a Raspberry Pi 4 and a 1/2 horsepower motor to form the “digital, human-sized-blender” (via Hackaday).

It can be programmed to display graphics like bonfires or a Christmas tree (festive!) but requires a blast shield to protect users from its rapidly spinning blades (not so festive).

Last minute reminder for “Santa” to pop some batteries into those toys before wrapping them.

We’re assuming the big guy is fairly on top of things, but just in case he’s running behind: it’s also a good idea to charge gadgets and download any relevant software updates before December 25th. Console updates can take hours, and no kid wants to wait for that nonsense on Christmas day.

Tesla announces its answer to the Apple AirPower wireless Qi charger.

The unimaginatively named “Tesla Wireless Charging Platform” (seen via 9to5Mac) provides 15W of fast charging power for up to three devices simultaneously. Like Apple’s canceled AirPower, it lets you place devices anywhere on its surface without fiddling with alignment.

The Wireless Charging Platform is available for pre-order for $300 and will begin shipping in February 2023.
