Emirates is closer to accepting crypto for flights.

The airline giant has been promising to accept Bitcoin as a payment method since 2022, but it might finally happen next year thanks to a preliminary deal with Crypto.com to explore integrations with the crypto trading platform’s payment service.

Smaller airlines like Latvia’s airBaltic and Japan’s Peach Aviation adopted cryptocurrency payments years ago, but Emirates would be the largest to do so.

Apple has a taste for Formula 1.

The Cupertino company is in discussions with ESPN to acquire the Formula 1 broadcasting rights in the US next year, according to The Financial Times, following the success of Apple’s F1 Movie.

Apple TV Plus isn’t the only streaming platform rumored to be throwing its hat in the ring, however — reports from earlier this year also suggest that Netflix has its eyes on the prize, having helped to build US interest in the racing sport with its own Formula 1: Drive to Survive series.

Threads is catching up to X on mobile.

According to Similarweb data reported by TechCrunch, the Threads mobile app reached 115.1 million daily active users in June, compared to the 132 million daily actives for X and 4.1 million for Bluesky. But while X’s growth declined by 15.2 percent year-over-year on mobile, Threads has increased by 127.8 percent during the same period.

X only has to take Meta seriously on iOS and Android, however, given it’s still thrashing both Threads and Bluesky for web visits.
