Retroid reportedly backtracks Pocket Mini return limits.

After acknowledging unfixable issues impacting the gaming handheld’s display, Retroid opened a six-day return window capped at just 200 returns from customers outside of China. Now, the company is “freely accepting return requests” beyond the 200 limit according to Retro Game Corps, alongside discounted or reimbursed shipping.

Retroid aims to release a revised Pocket Mini with a new AMOLED display within the next 12 months, to be offered at a discount to current Mini owners.

A screenshot of a message posted to Retroid’s Discord channel promising to provide Pocket Mini customers with a discount on a future product.

Trump’s FTC pushes forward on Microsoft antitrust probe.

FTC staffers have continued to work on the investigation in recent weeks according to Bloomberg, a sign that Trump-appointed FTC Chairman Andrew Ferguson is going to prioritize scrutiny of tech giants.

The probe, launched under Biden in November, is looking into Microsoft’s AI projects (including its partnership with OpenAI), cloud and software licensing business, and cybersecurity services. These investigations can take years to conclude, giving Microsoft plenty of opportunities to kick up a stink about it.

Things go from bankrupt to worse for Swedish EV battery manufacturer.

After filing for Chapter 11 in the US in November, Northvolt — which worked with Volkswagen, Volvo, Audi, Porsche, and BMW — has now filed for bankruptcy in Sweden. The company was founded by two ex-Tesla executives and was one of Europe’s leading efforts to rival US and Asian battery manufacturers before racking up billions in debt.

“As the bankruptcy process unfolds, the court-appointed trustee will determine the future of Northvolt’s businesses and their assets, including technology and production facilities.”

Security experts dug into the X DDoS attack.

While Elon Musk claimed the “massive cyberattack” impacting X’s service had originated from Ukrainian IP addresses, security researchers note that this isn’t conclusive as attackers often obfuscate their true locations via compromised devices, proxy networks, and VPNs.

Analysts told Wired that there’s also evidence that some of X’s servers were publicly visible before being secured behind the company’s Cloudflare DDoS protection, which may have exposed the platform to direct attacks.

Artists and CERN explore the quantum realm.

The “Quantum Visions” art exhibition being hosted at Tabakalera in San Sebastián, Spain celebrates 2025 being proclaimed the “International Year of Quantum Science and Technology” by the United Nations. Eleven artists, including former CERN artists-in-residence, are featured at the exhibit, with works in a variety of mediums that have been inspired by the subatomic world of quantum theory. It sounds like a neat experience, even if my brain hurts just thinking about it.
