Don’t hold your breath for Apple’s EU App Store changes to be available globally.

Writing in his Power On newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that Apple is planning on “splitting the App Store in two” to comply with the European Union’s new Digital Markets Act. One for EU countries, where it’ll have to allow third-party app stores and third-party payments, and one for “the US and everywhere else.” Expect the changes by March 7th.

TIL Apple’s Find My app has an item limit (it’s 32).

MacRumors spotted that Apple added the figure to a support page recently, confirming an increase that has reportedly been in effect since 2022’s iOS 16. The previous limit was apparently 16. Compatible items include AirTags and other first-party headphones and accessories from Apple and Beats, and a range of third-party products.

Is Sony about to revamp the PS5’s DualSense controller?

A product listings for a mysterious “V2” DualSense has cropped up on Best Buy’s Canadian store. Although it’s priced the same, the listing mentions an included charging station, and that the controller offers “exceptional 12-hour battery life,” which, if true, would represent a moderate step up from the 7-8 hours we’ve been getting from the existing model.

Update January 11th, 10:24AM ET: We found a similar listing on EE’s online store, but it’s now been edited to remove the “V2” mention. Here’s a screenshot of how it looked before.

Threads let some users sort their search results by “Latest,” but Meta says this was a mistake.

“Earlier today, an internal prototype was accidentally made available for a small number of people — this is not something we’re testing externally at this time,“ the company told TechCrunch. It’s a shame, since sorting by latest would make it much easier to track breaking news on Threads. Apparently Meta thinks the feature would create a “substantial safety loophole.
