It’s unfair to dismiss the Super Mario Bros. Movie as being just an advertisement, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a good ad all the same. In a new presentation Nintendo says the film boosted sales of Mario switch games by 30 percent year-on-year, and users of Mario-related mobile apps by 40 percent. The film was also a smash hit in its own right.

Nintendo earnings are out, and there’s a surprising amount of life left in its six-and-a-half-year-old console. Hardware, software, and other revenue were up versus the same period last year thanks to Zelda, Pikmin, and the Mario movie. Nintendo’s earnings have also been helped by the weak Japanese yen. There’s still no sign of the Switch 2, but the original console is going out with a bang.
Smartphone manufacturers have been touting their moon photography smarts for years (sometimes with dubious results), but with its upcoming X100 series Vivo seems to be focusing on the flip side — photographing the sun. We should get a better idea of what that means when the Vivo X100 and X100 Pro launch on November 13th in China.
