My kids don’t know what an Amiibo is. They do know that I have a little orange-and-white box that can pretend to be “meebos” and unlock costumes in Mario Odyssey and Yoshi’s Crafted Word. (It’s also helped me a bunch in Tears of the Kingdom.)
There are many cheaper ways to emulate Amiibos. This is a gross underutilization of the Flipper Zero. Sure is fun, though.
I just picked up a three-pack of Nanoleaf’s new Matter bulbs. They’re brighter and have better colors than the ancient Hue bulbs they’re replacing, but boy howdy. Adding them to Apple Home takes two or three tries; getting them onto Google Home requires a second phone. I’m half an hour into trying to connect the second bulb.
I sure hope Imgur reconsiders its upcoming purge. It’s been the de facto host for hotlinked images on forums and subreddits for a decade-plus. Killing images not tied to a user account would nuke huge swaths of the internet’s institutional memory. (Do you know how many vintage keyboards are only attested in anonymous Imgur albums linked from Deskthority?!)
You can game on any keyboard. Or you could pick one with an 8000Hz polling rate. Or analog switches. Or modular macro pads. And, of course, they all have RGB. We’re not barbarians.

My children are constantly trying to launch games on the Nest Hub Max, and the best I’ve been able to do ‘til now is block them, which means I hear the above conversation twenty times a day. So the news that Google is killing Assistant games entirely? Sweet relief.
Keycaps.info lets you compare a bunch of different mechanical keycap profiles, from SA to MT3 to Cherry all the way to MBK, MG, and KAM. They even have the Apple Magic Keyboard, by way of comparison. Similar photos and illustrations have existed for ages, but this is the most comprehensive and easy-to-use version I’ve seen so far.
