A note from Asus in late June mentioned issues with failing SD cards and said a future update would boost fan speed as a precaution. Now that update is here, labeled BIOS 322. It raises the fan curve when using it in Turbo mode, both on battery power and plugged in (via Windows Central).

In the release notes of Firefox 115, developers note that Windows 7 and Windows 8, as well as macOS 10.12, 10.13, and 10.14, are all being moved to an extended support release version so they can continue to receive security updates.

In a message retweeted by new Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino, Twitter published some reasons for the spontaneous new limits that included pulling the plug on the preferred version of its TweetDeck tool.

The Twitter alternative from Meta appears set to launch on July 6th, but the Irish Independent reports that Ireland’s Data Protection Commission has been in contact with the company about the new product and confirmed the launch won’t extend to the EU “at this point.”

The Wall Street Journal wrote about the iOS-only app Spill, which was founded by two former Twitter employees and calls itself “visual conversation at the speed of culture.” On Spill, large text captions over pictures, GIFs, or video clips add the conversational pace of Twitter to the look of Instagram or TikTok.

These “hottest ever” headlines are getting hard to keep track of.
