    Green light.

This week we’ve already seen Mark Zuckerberg’s metaverse ambitions, Microsoft’s plans for Windows after 10 years of Surface products (that include dropping “Office”), and reviewed the new Pixel watch / phone combo from Google.

What’s next? Apparently, Google feeling confident enough about its Project Starline 3D video chat booth to start letting people try it out.

The best version of Dynamic Island is on Android.

DynamicSpot was already ahead of Apple by letting paying users choose tap vs. hold (in Nilay’s review of the iPhone 14 Pro, he said Apple locks users into a setup that works in the opposite of what you’d expect), and the latest update widens the gap more.

In addition to selecting which apps can use the notification, dynamicSpot now lets you choose which ones automatically expand the island when it’s triggered.

Hands-on with the new Microsoft Surface hardware.

Tom Warren visited Microsoft to get a first impression of the new Surface Pro 9, Surface Laptop 8, and Surface Studio 2 Plus. Panos Panay also answered a few questions about everything that went into the design of these latest products and what to expect after ten years of the Surface brand.

Nvidia’s RTX 4090 cards will go on sale at 9AM ET.

The GPU shortage may be over, but we’ll see how much that applies to the new generation of graphics tech once the first 40-series cards go on sale this morning.

Tom Warren can tell you all about how the RTX 4090 performs (or you can see DLSS 3 in action below), but to get one, try Best Buy for the $1,599 Nvidia Founders Edition, among others, as well as Newegg and B&H Photo.

After a week of problems, Overwatch 2 might be starting to settle down.

Overwatch 2 has put players through server queues, login errors, and a dramatic approach to verification with phone numbers.

But now Blizzard says it’s “making progress” on fixes and that it has some small rewards planned for players who’ve stuck around.

I’m just glad that for the first time since launch, I can both log in and see all of my previously unlocked items.

I know which robot I’m sticking with.

Sure, the M3gan trailer’s android companion is appropriate for the spooky season, but I prefer this less murder-y take.

Based on a Ray Bradbury story based on a Ray Bradbury Twilight Zone episode, The Electric Grandmother holds up well for a 40-year-old, 47-minute TV movie with a robot in a sarcophagus lowered by a helicopter.

Someone called it “a horror movie where they forgot to tack on the horrifying twist,” which feels fair. It’s not on Netflix, but you if have Google you can find it.
