Disney’s deal to buy the rest of Hulu from Comcast is finally done.

While Comcast / NBCUniversal argued for a Hulu valuation that could’ve cost Disney another $5 billion on top of the $8.6 billion it had already paid, a third-party appraiser reached a number much closer to Disney’s. That ended their dispute -- simmering since 2019 -- for only an extra $438.7 million, as reported by THR and Axios.

Bob Iger said this clears the way for deeper integration between Hulu and Disney Plus ahead of the launch of ESPN’s direct-to-consumer streaming service in the fall.

If you ask The Verge reporters who were there liveblogging Apple’s keynote today, the answer is (mostly) Spotlight.

watchOS 26 adds a new ‘wrist flick’ gesture to quickly dismiss notifications.

At WWDC 2025, Apple just showed off a new update coming to its wearables this fall.

Once watchOS 26 is available, Apple Watch Series 9, Apple Watch Series 10, and Apple Watch Ultra 2 wearers will be able to dismiss notifications, silence times and alarms, and ignore calls just by turning their wrist over and back like this (below), in addition to the existing double tap gesture.

Ohio State leans into “AI fluency” for the class of 2029.

There’s a flood of reports about college students apparently using AI to cheat their way through college, and debating whether or not that’s the actual problem. Now, NBC4 in Columbus points out Ohio State’s new AI Fluency plan that targets the class of 2029 (with some level of assumptions that our current view of generative AI will still be relevant by then), focusing on a few steps:

    • All undergraduates will be introduced to generative AI basics in the required General Education Launch Seminar.
    • GenAI workshops will be integrated into the First Year Success Series.
    • The new “Unlocking Generative AI” course will be offered and open to all majors.

Legendary Apple engineer Bill Atkinson has died at 74.

Atkinson’s family announced that he passed away last Thursday due to pancreatic cancer. Employee number 51 at Apple, Atkinson worked on the Macintosh, MacPaint, and HyperCard.

Wired and Daring Fireball have even more details on his life and career, and Apple CEO Tim Cook writes, “He was a true visionary whose creativity, heart, and groundbreaking work on the Mac will forever inspire us.” In this video about Apple’s influential pre-Macintosh ‘OK’ computer, you can hear Bill Atkinson talk about the Lisa, and how, in his words, it “contributed toward the idea that computers were for everyone.”

Apple’s OS overhaul could bring ‘Liquid Glass’ UI ahead of a 20th anniversary iPhone.

Mark Gurman’s Bloomberg newsletter brings one more pre-WWDC 25 rumor, saying the most exciting part of the conference will be the rumored design overhaul for iPhone, Mac, and other platforms that he says is called Liquid Glass (remember Microsoft’s Aero Glass, and Apple’s iOS 7 shift away from skeuomorphism?).

Adding “transparency and shine effects in all of Apple’s tool bars, in-app interfaces and controls,” he says it sets the stage for next year’s “Glasswing” iPhone design with curved glass sides, slim bezels, and no cutout section in the display.

Older Windows handhelds are getting Xbox full-screen upgrades too.

If you already bought a Windows gaming handheld, you might not need to upgrade your hardware to get the overhauled Xbox app, Game Bar, and Windows OS that Microsoft and Asus just announced.

    Xbox exec Roanne Sones:

The Xbox full-screen experience will first come to the ROG Xbox Ally and the ROG Xbox Ally X, and our next focus will be updating the in-market ROG Ally and the ROG Ally X. Similar full-screen Xbox experiences will be rolling out to other Windows handhelds, starting next year.”

    Trump-Musk update.

An update on how the extremely public political breakup is going today, as protestors face off with federal immigration agents in Los Angeles.

    • Elon Musk deleted his tweet claiming Donald Trump prevented the release of Jeffrey Epstein files because he’s in them.
    • Trump told NBC News the Epstein links were “old news,” that he had no desire to repair their relationship, and when asked if it’s over, said, “I would assume so, yeah.”
    • The Washington Post cites a source claiming Trump referred to Elon as “a big-time drug addict” on a phone call.
    • A YouGov poll of 3,812 US adults found 41 percent of respondents supported the federal government ending Musk’s subsidies and contracts.
    • NASA and Pentagon officials reportedly urged competitors to develop SpaceX alternatives after Musk’s “terrifying” threat to decommission the Dragon spacecraft.

How long will it take for Switch 2 restocks?

If you’re not in the first wave of buyers but are willing to spend the $449.99 or more to get a Switch 2 soon, it could be tricky. Bloomberg asked retail execs, with a Best Buy senior VP saying it could be days or weeks before Nintendo sends more systems, assuming they sell out of their current stock tonight as expected, while GameStop reportedly expects to restock weekly.

This minigame / explainer for the Switch 2’s features costs $9.99, but Nintendo’s video shows off a lot of the experience without costing anything extra, which could be good after the $449.99-plus charge hits buyers’ accounts.
