Is this the Nintendo Switch 2’s CPU?

YouTuber Geekerwan has obtained what appears to be a Switch 2 motherboard component for about $150 on Xianyu, which he describes as a Chinese eBay equivalent.

Even without being able to power it up, microscopic evaluation suggests that the “T239” chip was taped out in 2021 with Nvidia’s Ampere tech. Combined with leaked clockspeed specs, they were able to demonstrate some performance estimates on current games, but maybe we’ll get even more hardware details soon.

    Slack’s ‘Later’ tab is down.

The office collaboration / messaging app is still functional, but a notice on Slack’s website confirms there’s an issue affecting the Later tab for saved items in its desktop and web app as of about 1PM ET.

We’re looking into an issue impacting the Later tab on the desktop app and browser. Users may be having trouble switching from the In Progress tab to the Archived or Completed tab. Items may also be missing from the Archived or Completed tabs.

We’re investigating and will let you know as soon as we know more. We appreciate your patience in the meantime.

    It is Bandcamp Friday.

There are about 8 hours left in the first Bandcamp Friday of 2025, as the pandemic tradition of the music site forgoing its usual revenue share of your purchases from artists and labels continues despite ownership changes and layoffs.

However, it’s no longer an every-month thing, with the rest of this year’s commission holidays scheduled for August 1st, September 5th, October 3rd, and December 5th.

SteamOS prepares for its first official third-party handheld.

The first non-Steam Deck but authorized as “Powered by SteamOS” handheld is supposed to ship this month, joining the Windows version of the Legion Go S that we reviewed in February. Now the latest SteamOS preview (3.7.5) shows Valve’s ongoing preparations with new support for its trackpad.

That was on the to-do list of items Valve had at CES, so it’s good to see it being checked off, even if the Steam version is still only listed as “coming soon” at Best Buy.

Robby Starbuck sues Meta over what its AI said about him.

In between insisting that corporations need to end DEI efforts, Starbuck is suing because Meta AI “repeatedly published—and continues to publish—provably false and defamatory statements falsely accusing Starbuck of participating in the January 6th Capitol riot and having been arrested for a misdemeanor.”

Meta global policy head Joel Kaplan -- who said in January its products would have “no new fact checks and no fact checkers” -- apologized for the incorrect results. Does anyone have an idea about how the company could avoid this kind of problem?

National security advisor Mike Waltz reportedly ‘purged’ following Signalgate.

CBS News and Politico are reporting that both National Security Advisor Mike Waltz and his deputy, Alex Wong, will leave their posts in the Trump White House. Waltz has confirmed he created the “Houthi PC Small Group” chat on Signal in March and invited The Atlantic EIC Jeffrey Goldberg, who later reported on his inadvertent access to key information about active military operations in Yemen.

Fox News reports that both Waltz and Wong “were purged” on Thursday following last month’s leak.

Intel says its new drivers give Lunar Lake PCs better gaming performance.

Intel might have already shifted its path away from building AI PCs with on-package memory, but if you have a laptop (like Dell’s XPS 13 9350) with the Core Ultra 200V chipset inside, then this news is for you.

Following last week’s Arrow Lake update, Intel claims the 32.0.101.6734 and newer drivers bring noticeable performance boosts to Lunar Lake machines thanks to a power management update enabling “higher average GPU frequency and improved frame pacing.”

Graph showing framerate boosts to average and 99th percentile FPS after installing new drivers on a laptop with the Intel Arc 140V GPU in games like Cyberpunk 2077, Fortnite, and God of War Ragnarok.

    “He did the right thing.”

Said Donald Trump, speaking to reporters today about Jeff Bezos and Amazon’s response quickly disavowing any suggestion that it might tell customers how much Trump’s tariffs have increased the prices on their products. “Jeff Bezos is very nice... He solved the problem very quickly.”

It looks like we have our answer to Nilay’s question.
