    Resignation accepted.

We just published a full transcript of what Elon Musk told Twitter in his first full meeting with employees. But Platformer has more to add about the turmoil inside the company.

Like how John Debay, director of software engineering, has also resigned today. Or how the security governance and compliance teams have been gutted. Or how one of Twitter’s own lawyers believes employees have no obligation to return to the offices — though Musk isn’t giving them a choice.

“Basically, if you can show up in an office and you do not show up at the office: resignation accepted. End of story,” said Musk.

    Among Us VR is out.

Right now, it supports Quest 2 and Quest Pro, Rift and Rift S and Steam VR headsets, with PSVR2 coming later. Early reviews are good! Lots of praise for the immersive audio (built-in proximity based voice chat keeps things creepy!) while noting it doesn’t have all the maps and content of the original. Also, finding enough friends with headsets might be hard. That’s what Discord communities are for though, right?

I’m pulling to get a Verge game going this week.

    So damn clean.

This is the most beautiful portable console I’ve ever seen.

It’s beyond time to Bring Transparent Gadgets Back. And not just accessories, please.

Your USB 4 port might become a Thunderbolt 4 port someday!

That’s what just happened at Framework. The modular laptop company just got Intel to certify that its latest USB-C / USB4 ports satisfy all the requirements of Thunderbolt 4 too, letting you set your mind at ease that you’ll get 100W of power, 40Gbps data rates, and up to 8K 60 external monitors via DisplayPort.

Of course, Framework was already advertising those things cuz its expansion cards could already do all that — nothing is stopping USB4 mfgrs from building in the same capabilities as Thunderbolt 4. It’s just that many manufacturers don’t, and Thunderbolt is one way to prove you did. (Tho even Thunderbolt doesn’t guarantee eGPU support.)

3D-print yourself a better way to hold up your Steam Deck in bed?

Behold: the RestDeck. “The design is very human, very easy to use,” says creator Andrew_HL2.

While that phrasing made me chuckle quite a bit, particularly once I gazed upon its full set of appendages, I would have killed for something like this after the electric scooter accident that sent me to the hospital and savaged my hands and wrists. Something like this could be even handier for those with more permanent conditions.

Files here ($6.99); you can peruse the full instruction manual before you take the plunge.

You can easily check whether tech companies like Twitter are illegally surprising employees with mass layoffs.

California has a list publicly accessible on the internet: See “Latest WARN Report” at this link. You’ll generally need a spreadsheet tool to open it, but I already stuffed the most recent version into Google Sheets so you can take a peek.

As of October 31st, Twitter had not yet told California it was going to lay off loads of workers — but guess which company does show up? Tesla. Musk can’t pretend he’s unaware of the law.
