The version 2.0 rollout of the company now owned by McLaren Applied, is well underway, having resumed production of spare parts and signed 50 repair and service locations across seven countries, with more cities on more continents including North America coming “later this year.”
The company also says it will “soon” make an announcement about the resumption of sales for its re-engineered e-bikes.
Brave says its browser is having a hockey stick moment after the release of Apple’s DMA-compliant iOS 17.4 last week, which immediately nags users to choose their default browser from a randomized list upon startup.
Or so says Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in his latest Power On Newsletter, advancing Apple’s hearing-related accessibility features like Live Listen and Conversation Boost. Hearing aids cost an average of $2,300 per ear.
It’s supposedly coming with iOS 18 which is shaping up to be a big release with RCS messaging support and generative AI. We’ll know for sure at WWDC this summer.
While cars in general are embiggening, in some cities a new breed of electric microcars is trending. They’re cheaper to own, easier to park, consume less public space and energy, and maneuver around obstacles that would otherwise block big SUVs and snarl traffic.

Robocalls using an AI voice clone of the President recently tried to persuade New Hampshire voters not to vote, causing the FCC to issue a ban on such calls. But is Biden now alluding to something broader? The entertainment industry which is grappling with cloned musicians, actors, and comedians will certainly be interested if so.
It’s DMA day in Europe, and I’ve immediately been prompted to choose a default browser after updating to iOS 17.4. The list is populated with “the most downloaded browsers on iOS in that country in the prior year.” I picked Chrome, but quickly switched back to Safari because I’m not crazy. But instead of finding the default setting under something like “Browser” it was under “Safari” instead — confusing.
Maybe I’ll really switch if/when Chrome ditches WebKit for Blink in the future.
In some countries including the Netherlands (where I live), the price has dropped to €50/mth (from €65/mth) for residential customers while my roam plan that lets me take my dishy anywhere in Europe has dropped to €59/mth (from €100/mth), down from €124/mth when I started service back in 2022. One-time hardware costs have now been lowered from €450 to €225, as well, down from the €720 I paid for gen 1.
