I reported earlier this year that Microsoft was considering launching Towerborne into early access. After a promise of a “special surprise” during gamescom opening night live, Microsoft has just confirmed that Towerborne will be available in early access on Steam on September 10th, and on Xbox in early 2025. A full free-to-play launch is planned for 2025.

Nvidia is announcing an updated RTX 4070 with GDDR6 memory today. “To improve supply and availability to meet strong demand, we’re introducing the GeForce RTX 4070 with extra fast GDDR6 memory,” says Nvidia. All of the other specs of the GPU are the same, and Nvidia says “it offers similar performance” in games and apps, despite the decrease in bandwidth from GDDR6X to GDDR6 memory. This updated RTX 4070 will be available worldwide starting in September.
SanDisk is launching new Pokémon-branded microSD cards at Gamescom today. Black Myth: Wukong is currently the most played game on Steam with more than 2 million concurrent players. It has already passed the all-time peaks of Elden Ring, Dota 2, Cyberpunk 2077, Counter-Strike 2, and now Palworld. It has become only the third game to beat Counter-Strike’s all-time peak on Steam. The Chinese RPG only launched today, so if the momentum continues it could even top PUBG’s all-time peak of 3.2 million players.
Update: Black Myth: Wukong has now passed Palworld.
