    See you, Space Gray.

Apple dropped Space Gray from the MacBook Air line with the new M4 models today, leaving the longstanding Apple color option only available on the latest iPad Air and iPad Mini models, as 9to5Mac has spotted.

Darker MacBooks come in Space Black or Midnight these days. Like 9to5Mac notes, “Space Gray” was never one specific color.

Behold the maxed out Mac Studio.

The new M3 Ultra Mac Studio can get up to 512GB of RAM and 16TB of storage, but it’ll cost you $14,099 for that, minus add-ons. That’s a jump from the $8,799 ceiling we reached (using The Internet Archive) for the previous model, which only reaches 192GB of RAM and an 8TB SSD.

It’s still a deal compared to some Mac Pro configurations of the past.

    Is Brother still a keeper?

We’ve said before you should buy a Brother printer because “It will be fine!” But maybe that’s not so anymore: In a video spotted by Toms Hardware, YouTuber Louis Rossman says Brother has followed the rest of the printer industry into the darkness with user-hostile, anti-aftermarket ink software updates.

We’ve reached out to Brother for more information, and we’ll update you when we know more.

Is Apple about to launch a new Mac Studio?

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman posted that a launch of the Mac Studio with an M4 Max chip and, oddly, an M3 Ultra “appears to be imminent.” Gurman speculates that this will help Apple differentiate the Studio from a future M4 Ultra-powered Mac Pro. Both have been rumored for later this year, with the Pro coming in as late as the fall.

The iOS 18.4 developer beta gives Shortcuts much more to do.

9to5Mac spotted that iOS Shortcuts in today’s beta release now offers actions to change settings in iOS apps, including Safari, Maps, and Voice Memos. The outlet guesses it’s in preparation for Apple’s coming Siri upgrade that lets it perform tasks for you, both in and across apps.

New options include turning on “Avoid Hills” for Apple Maps cycling directions or setting the recording quality of Voice Memos.

The Vision Pro Spatial Gallery app is out now in beta.

Vision Pro owners should see the app if they install the visionOS 2.4 developer beta today. Last month, Apple described Spatial Gallery as containing a curated selection of spatial videos, photos, and panoramas, including things like behind-the-scenes clips from Apple TV Plus shows like Severance and Shrinking.

iOS 18.4’s second developer beta, which is also out now, adds the iOS Apple Vision Pro app, which lets you browse and remotely install Vision Pro apps.
