Gemini extensions are now Gemini “apps.”

Google made the change to the feature, which adds app integrations to Gemini, in a beta version of the Google app for Android last week, later mentioning it in a Workspace weekly recap published Friday.

The recap adds that Gemini Apps are now powered by Gemini Flash 2.0, Google’s latest small on-device AI model, bringing “improved performance and better advanced reasoning capabilities with efficiency and speed.”

DOGE’s GSAi chatbot expands to 1,500 federal workers.

Wired reports that following a 150-person pilot, General Services Administration employees are using the chatbot, which Elon Musk’s DOGE hopes to expand to the entire agency, for “general purposes.”

An internal memo seen by Wired instructs workers not to “type or paste federal nonpublic information,” and includes suggestions for “effective” prompts. One employee told the outlet GSAi is “about as good as an intern,” producing “generic and guessable answers.”

    Tesla protests continue to escalate.

Six people were arrested Saturday after “several hundred protestors” blocked entrances to a Manhattan Tesla showroom, The New York Times reports. “Tesla Takedown” protests aim to hurt Elon Musk by targeting Tesla, which has seen sales dropping globally since Musk started directing deep cuts in the federal government.

The Times details violence beyond formal protests, including shots fired at a showroom Thursday night. Earlier that day, feds charged someone accused of “planting a Molotov cocktail near a vehicle.”

Apple pulled its iPhone 16 ad showing off the good Siri.

In the now-private YouTube video, The Last of Us star Bella Ramsey is shown asking Siri “the name of the person they had a meeting with the previous month at a specific restaurant,” as 9to5Mac puts it.

That sort of capability isn’t coming soon after Apple delayed its Siri AI upgrade on Friday, with a Bloomberg rumor suggesting its features could get scrapped and rebuilt entirely.

There’s always been a Baggins, living here under the hill.

Lego leaked a new Lord of the Rings kit called The Shire in a since-removed event posting on its site spotted by Jay’s Brick Blog. The kit focuses on Bag End, the home of Frodo and Bilbo Baggins in the fantasy series.

The even was for an April 5th signing by the model’s designer at Lego’s flagship London store, according to the article.
