Meta’s Twitter competitor, Threads, briefly showed up on the Google Play app store today.

Twitter user Alessandro Paluzzi, a developer who’s been publishing leaks about Meta’s upcoming Twitter clone, tweeted early this morning that the app had been released, but it was taken down sometime later.

Paluzzi included screenshots showing the posting UI and the ability to login with Instagram.

The app is no longer available as of this writing.

AMD has missed its original timeline for its new one-click Hypr-RX feature.

The company said in November last year that the feature, which would enable one-click performance settings optimization for its GPUs, would debut in the first half of 2023. Now that July is here, AMD has missed that window, points out VideoCardz.

The company says Hypr-RX will help players get the best performance and responsiveness without needing to fiddle endlessly with settings.

Tetris is capable of universal computation.

Programmer Michael Birken published an extremely detailed set of instructions on his blog, Meat Fighter, showing how to create playable Tetris using tetrominos (via Hacker News).

It’s dense, and you’ll need at least a basic understanding of programming terminology to follow along. Birken’s instructions make for a great Saturday morning read. He even made a video showing Tetris running on Tetris.

iFixit has a compilation of nine classic game consoles, and it’s sublime.

Some, like the PlayStation 2, you’ve heard of, and a couple you might be learning about for the first time. All nine teardowns are delightful.

My favorite is a console I owned and loved: the Nintendo Virtual Boy. The folks who did the teardown called Game Boy creator Gunpei Yokoi’s VR system “the coolest device we’ve ever taken apart.”

FTX is suing its former compliance officer, Daniel Friedberg.

The suit alleges Friedberg enabled Sam Bankman-Fried and others to misappropriate billions in customer funds leading up to the catastrophic collapse of the company late last year, according to Bloomberg. The fall of FTX was just one part of the ongoing crypto winter.

The suit lays out the allegations:

Friedberg and others facilitated the routing of billions of dollars in purported profits of the FTX Group to the FTX Insiders, and their families, friends, and other acquaintances through purported personal ‘loans,’ bonuses, ‘investments,’ and all other means of transfer, including real estate purchases and hundreds of millions of dollars in charitable and political contributions.

Starting tomorrow, your iPhone or iPad can be a free, six-button Stream Deck.

Elgato issued its Stream Deck 6.3 update today with support for Stream Deck Mobile 2.0, the latest version of its mobile app that turns your phone into a Stream Deck.

The updated mobile app arriving tomorrow now includes six free buttons, and with native iPad support, it can show paying users up to 128 keys at once.

Unfortunately, an Elgato rep said on Reddit that the Android version isn’t getting updated yet:

We decided first to release Stream Deck Mobile 2.0 on iOS because it is compatible with many devices out of the box, so to speak.
