Unreal and Unreal Tournament are free on the Internet Archive — and Epic doesn’t mind.

Epic spokesperson Brian Sharon confirmed to The Verge via email that “people are free to independently link to and play these versions” of Unreal and Unreal Tournament, as Game Developer reported. (You may want Old Unreal’s custom installers to get them running, though.)

Between this and the Half-Life 2 update, it’s a good week for classic FPS fans.

Is Apple considering making a TV again?

In addition to iPad-like smart home displays and tabletop robots, Apple’s smart home future could include a television set, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman writes in Power On today.

The company is only “evaluating” the idea, but I’m so curious what it would call an actual TV in a world with Apple TV (the app), Apple TV (the set-top box) and Apple TV Plus (the service).

Warner Bros. Discovery is ending its NBA lawsuit.

The company is dropping its legal battle in favor of an 11-year settlement for domestic and global rights to “a significant amount of NBA content,” reports The Wall Street Journal.

WBD’s TNT will still lose NBA games to Disney, Amazon, and NBCUniversal next year, but got one consolation:

In addition, these people said, ESPN will sublicense Big 12 conference college football and basketball games to Warner Bros. Discovery that it can air on TNT, as well as on its Max streaming service.

Bluesky moves deeper into moderation hell.

After days of explosive growth on the platform, the Bluesky Safety team posted Friday that it received 42,000 moderation reports in the preceding 24 hours (versus 360,000 in all of 2023).

The team added that it’s working to bring on new members and asks users to help by reporting troll, spam, and scam accounts. Bluesky has also implemented email verification for new signups.

Apple could make a safety tweak to the next AirTags.

Apple’s wireless tracker’s rumored follow-up next year will have improved range, a better wireless chip, and a harder-to-remove speaker, according to Mark Gurman’s latest Power On newsletter for Bloomberg.

Would-be stalkers often remove AirTag speakers to prevent victims from finding the device by playing sound on it when they’re alerted that it’s traveling with them, Gurman writes — hence that last change.
