CES

The Consumer Electronics Show, or CES, is one of the biggest and buzziest tech events of the year, offering a first look at next-generation TVs, laptops, smart home gadgets, cars, and more. In 2026, the event is being held in Las Vegas from January 6–9, and The Verge will be on the ground covering it all. Follow along here for the biggest news from the show floor.

The Cyber Fidget has an OLED display to go with its clicky buttons.

When the Kickstarter launches, it will cost $179 for the machined aluminum version, but if that’s too much, its makers say you’ll be able to get it cheaper with a 3D-printed shell or as just the board.

But until then, you can check out Sean Hollister toying with the Cyber Fidget at CES 2026.

Star Wars robots make a cameo during Nvidia’s keynote.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang brought a pair of adorable BDX droids on stage while speaking about the future of AI and robotics. These little bots probably can’t put a towel inside a washing machine, but they sure are cute!

Hands-on with Samsung’s Galaxy Z Trifold.

Three folding panels, two sets of hinges, and a frame that’s just barely thinner than a USB-C port, what more could you want? Allison Johnson finally got some hands-on time with Samsung’s trifold at CES 2026, and she’s already thinking of ways to replace her laptop.

Qualcomm hints we might see Windows gaming handhelds at GDC in March.

Qualcomm sells Arm chips that play PC games on Windows... and occasionally on Android... and newly on SteamOS too. So: when do we get a Qualcomm Steam Deck? Qualcomm tells me PC handhelds aren’t happening at CES, but it’s “keeping an eye” on GDC in March for possible Windows ones! Full context here.

HP’s Chromebooks get a minor spec bump.

The upcoming 14-inch HP Chromebook Plus and Chromebook Plus x360 announced at CES have been updated with Intel Core 3 N355 processors and offer up to 512GB of M.2 SSD storage, with the previous 16:9 aspect ratio displays switching to 16:10.

Aside from the new 16:10 aspect ratio, the most noticeable change on both the Chromebook 14 Plus (left) and 14 Plus x360 (right) is the lack of speaker grills on either side of the keyboard.

LG’s CLOiD robot rolls into CES.

The household robot made its debut at the company’s CES 2026 press conference, rolling onto the stage and giving a ponderous demo of putting a towel into a laundry machine.

The sizable wheeled robot used its articulating arms and huge hands to perform the action and talked to the audience about its technology and capabilities, using human-like hand gestures to emphasize its words.

JLab claims its new Mini ANC are the world’s smallest earbuds with active noise cancelling.

Each bud measures just 19mm x 21mm x 14mm and weighs 2.2 grams. For comparison, an AirPod Pro 3 weighs 5.55 grams and stands a comparatively towering 30.0mm tall. Even the charging case is barely bigger than a Zippo lighter at under two inches long and under an inch tall. And, on top of that, they’re only $39.99.

JLab JBuds Mini ANC in graphite. They’re pretty standard looking earbud, but like small. Though, you wouldn’t know it from this picture because there’s nothing in it for scale.
There’s nothing here for scale, but, trust us, they’re small.

Anker’s new tracker adds Google’s Find Hub and wireless recharging.

The Eufy SmartTrack Card E40 builds on the Eufy SmartTrack Card E30 — one of our go-to picks for slim Bluetooth trackers — by adding support for Google’s Find Hub alongside Apple’s Find My network. It also recharges via any Qi-compatible charger, features a louder 100dB built-in alarm, and is noticeably thinner than the E30 at 1.7mm. The $34.99 tracker will arrive in Q1 2026.

Anker teases whole home battery backup.

These are the boxes that’ll make up its new Solix E10, aka “the world’s first smart hybrid whole home backup solution.” What that means, exactly, won’t be known until the launch event on January 12th. I’m seeing stackable battery expansion and an inverter as you’d expect, an inlet box and smart panel to tap directly into your home’s circuitry, and what looks like a gas-powered generator like EcoFlow sells.

If you buy something from a Verge link, Vox Media may earn a commission. See our ethics statement.
