Fortnite

Fortnite is the biggest game in the world, and it keeps on growing. After starting out on PC, Fortnite has moved to PS4, Xbox, and the iPhone, and had a crossover event with the Avengers. The battle royale game even counts Drake as a fan.

Fortnite’s Rock Band-like mode is getting support for mics and drums.

While playing Fortnite Festival, if you want to sing along to songs, you’ll be able to use “any microphone that works in Fortnite on PC and Console,” while drummers can plug in “a Rock Band 4 or compatible MIDI drum kit,” according to Epic Games. The features launch on Thursday.

Gawrsh, Epic might be making a Disney-themed extraction shooter.

That’s according to a new report from Bloomberg, which delves into just how important the Disney deal is for Epic, especially given the current state of Fortnite. The extraction shooter is described as the first release to come out of the partnership, and it’s expected to launch in November.

April Fools’ 2026: Fortnite now has big head mode.

You can also pick up finger guns, ride llamas, and ride on the shoulders of your friends. This is a rare April Fools’ Day bit that’s actually good, IMO.

The game’s next big season, which will feature Bugs Bunny, launches the same day.

Epic is suing a Fortnite leaker over allegedly sharing details of upcoming collaborations.

The leaker, Hayden Cohen, was a former contractor who shared the details on X and Discord under the AdiraFN and AdiraFNInfo aliases despite having signed an NDA, according to Epic’s lawsuit.

The lawsuit follows news that a prominent Call of Duty leaker will stop sharing confidential information about the franchise after receiving legal demands from Activision.

Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney made the announcement alongside the news of Google’s sweeping Android App Store changes. The game already returned to Google Play in the US in December.

I’m goin’ down to Fortnite.

Cartman, Kenny, Stan, Kyle, and Butters are coming to the island tomorrow for Fortnite’s crossover with South Park, allowing players to explore Cartmanland and try the new Quints 5-person playlist. This event is available until February 5th, and yes — The Simpsons did it first.

Backbone Pro owners can get a free Fortnite skin for a limited time.

Starting today, new and existing owners of the controller can unlock a new Clyde skin in Fortnite. But after claiming a code in the Backbone app and redeeming it on the Fortnite website, you’ll need to complete a quest while playing the game on mobile, PC, or through a cloud streaming platform.

If you buy something from a Verge link, Vox Media may earn a commission. See our ethics statement.

Kill Bill, meet killer banana.

Fortnite’s next major event takes place on Saturday, followed by an all new chapter, but a day later something weirder and more interesting happens: an animated Kill Bill short will premiere in the game, built using Unreal Engine and Fortnite characters.

Epic CEO Tim Sweeney, when I asked him about Fortnite coming to Steam:

I want to know if Steam’s coming to Team Open or not. Paying 20-30 percent to a giant gatekeeper who intentionally structures their services so that, like, Steamworks users can’t talk to Fortnite users and so on, isn’t a very exciting prospect for the future right now.

As today’s Epic and Unity partnership shows, Epic is willing to work with its biggest competition — but I have my doubts that Valve will make the changes Epic wants anytime soon.

Fortnite is getting pets.

The new Sidekicks are “friendly cosmetics that stay by your side,” Epic says. The first one you can get is a banana-themed dog named Peels that’s available in the next battle pass.

Fortnite doesn’t like when creators cheat, either.

Following recent legal action against a cheater and a person who carried out DDoS attacks, Epic Games said today it has taken legal action against two developers of player-made Fortnite experiences. The developers created bots to inflate player counts so they could get higher payouts, according to Epic’s complaint.

Heels, nails, blade, the island.

Fortnite wasted no time cooking up its KPop Demon Hunters collaboration that will see the Huntr/x girls squadding up to slay monsters in a movie-inspired version of the game’s Horde Rush mode running from October 2nd to November 1st. Naturally, Rumi, Zoey, and Mira skins will also be coming to the Fortnite Shop.

Get lucky (in battle royale).

Daft Punk aren’t getting back together, but you can play as the duo in Fortnite starting on September 27th. Along with new skins and gear, there’s also a new musical experience described as “a transformative dance floor destination.” Check out the details right here.

100 players vs. Gorillaz.

The virtual band is the latest musical act to join Fortnite’s battle royale. Gorillaz will be the featured artist for the Fortnite Festival music mode starting on August 26th, and a bundle of skins featuring Noodle and 2D will be available in the game’s shop for the rest of the Festival season.

For (Fortnite) democracy.

In Fortnite’s “Shock ‘N Awesome” battle royale season, which launches on Thursday, you’ll have to watch out for a lot of gross-looking bugs. Fortunately, you can channel the spirit of the Power Rangers while you’re battling the hordes; the Green Ranger is in the battle pass, and the rest of the Power Rangers will be available to buy from Fortnite’s shop “later in August.”

Epic isn’t sure when it will bring Fortnite back to iOS in the UK.

The company has some criticisms of the Competition and Markets Authority’s roadmaps of “potential actions to improve competition” for Apple and Google, and Epic now says it “can’t bring the Epic Games Store to iOS in the UK this year (if ever).”

Epic originally aimed to bring the store and Fortnite to iOS in the UK in the second half of 2025.

Yet another new Fortnite mode.

Just a day after announcing the speedy Blitz Royale, Epic has unveiled a second major game mode for Fortnite that’s dropping on June 18th. It’s called Lego Expeditions, and it’s a PvE option that looks sort of like a brick-infused take on Diablo.

Fortnite is getting a speedy new mode designed for mobile.

Fortnite’s new Blitz Royale mode will feature 5-minute matches “with a rogue-like design specifically crafted for mobile play,” according to Epic Games. You can play it on other platforms if you want, though.

Blitz Royale launches on June 18th.
