It sure looks like Hank Hill is coming to Fortnite. If ever there was a time to add a new king of the hill mode, this is it.
Fortnite
Fortnite is the biggest game in the world, and it keeps on growing. After starting out on PC, Fortnite has moved to PS4, Xbox, and the iPhone, and had a crossover event with the Avengers. The battle royale game even counts Drake as a fan.
Following another successful live event (this time it involved infiltrating a Death Star), Epic has revealed the next season for Fortnite’s battle royale, which is once again superhero-themed. It includes new locations like a superhero academy and new characters like, well, Superman. Check out all the details here.

Thanks to a new Fortnite Data API, creators will be able to access data on things like minutes played, peak concurrent player count, and number of unique players for Epic-made experiences and public creator-made ones.

Following Epic Games’s filing asking Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers to order Apple to review its Fortnite app submission, Gonzalez Rogers wants Apple to resolve this on its own or for the Apple official who “is personally responsible for ensuring compliance” to appear at a hearing next Tuesday.

It also pulled the version it sent to Apple last Friday, according to Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney. Apple’s website says that “on average,” 90 percent of submissions “are reviewed in less than 24 hours,” though the company obviously did not meet that estimate for last week’s Fortnite submission.

In the lead up to Fortnite returning to the App Store, Epic is trying to entice players with a 20 percent rewards bonus when you use the company’s payment system to make purchases in certain games.
The offerings follow a court ruling in the Epic v. Apple antitrust case that is already having downstream effects on app developers and users.

The first trailer for Fortnite’s new season comes in the form of... a music video for a new character who is also a pickle. It’s plenty goofy, but it does seem to hint at a return to a heist theme, with vaults to break into, underground tunnels to sneak through, and explosives to explode. The season drops on February 21st.

Sony still hasn’t offered any meaningful updates about the many-hours-long PSN outage — unless you consider the AskPlayStation account’s recent afternoon reminder about M.2 SSD support helpful.

In its 2024 year-in-review post, Epic also says that “36.5% of total Fortnite playtime” happens in games made by creators, and that playtime stats are “buoyed by meaningful growth in game genres that don’t feature combat.”
Epic is fine with that; an Epic exec told us last year that “the worst outcome for us is that everything looks like battle royale.”
In addition to magnetic SSDs that piggyback on your phone, at CES 2025 SanDisk announced new Fortnite-themed storage solutions including a bright yellow Peely Edition portable SSD and USB-A flash drive. As had been teased, the singer was encased in a block of ice, only to be released at 3PM ET this afternoon. During my match, all combat stopped so that everyone could listen to her sing “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” before things went back to normal (and I was immediately killed). Her appearance kicks off the game’s annual holiday event — details are right here.
