Announced over a decade ago in 2012, and still floundering in Early Access with no release date in sight, Star Citizen keeps raising money, somehow. According to the funding page, it has now officially crossed the $1 billion mark.

The next version of Epic Games’ engine is still probably a year or two out, but an upgraded version of Rocket League just got teased at Paris Major. There’s no release date, but you can check out the clip below to see it in action.

We don’t yet know how much it will cost, but during a livestream yesterday with CEO Arthur Zhang, Ayaneo announced a new vertical-style handheld coming to its Konkr sub-brand. The Pocket Block’s tech specs aren’t known either, but without a thumbstick it will potentially compete with devices like the Anbernic RG35XX.

Don’t want to spread any FUD, since it sounds like there’s more than meets the eye, but there’s been one report of the Controller’s exposed charging pins latching onto a magnetic watch strap (while that watch was also charging) in a potentially dangerous way. We’ve asked Valve. Let us know if you see something similar!
Puzzmo just added Ribbit — an adorable anagram game — to its permanent rotation. I’ve been playing the game for months and it’s become part of my morning routine; it straddles a nice line between being challenging and brief, a nice way to spend a few minutes with a cup of coffee.
Originally released in a collection called Full Tilt! Pinball, Space Cadet was later bundled with several versions of Windows right up until XP. It was an excellent time-wasting alternative to Solitaire, but I’d much rather play the IRL version that Daniel McKenzie is in the process of building.
It’s been a surprisingly busy week for new releases. Here’s some stuff to check out across film, TV, and gaming:

The new Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 is almost perfect for me, except it’s $3,600.
Employees also want to pitch and start work on new games, but Bungie hasn’t greenlit anything yet, Bloomberg reports.
Destiny 2 will get its last major update on June 9th, Bungie announced Thursday.
You can make your own right here.
Marketing for the game will spin up this summer, and the company won’t share a price as part of its earnings announcements today, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick told Variety. Zelnick told Bloomberg that preorders should begin alongside marketing.
To both, Zelnick indicated that the game is indeed coming out on November 19th, which was a delay from May 26th (which itself was a delay).
Sega’s official Crazy Taxi account on X just made its first post in six years: a brief video.
The company confirmed in 2023 that reboots of Crazy Taxi and other classic franchises were in the works. Given this post, maybe Sega will officially reveal the new game at Summer Game Fest Live in June. Let’s hope The Offspring is still on the soundtrack.
Helldivers 2 is getting upscaling support on PC and consoles on May 27th. In a blog post, Arrowhead Studios announced an upcoming patch will add DLSS, FSR, XeSS, and PSSR support. It will also add optimizations like VRR on PS5, and Nvidia Reflex for reduced latency on PC.
Sweet liberty!
Retro Dodo reached out, and sure enough, Lenovo admits it’s behind the G02. I can understand wanting a piece of the retro handheld action, but surely Nintendo didn’t license Lenovo to distribute thousands of titles? Then again, Anbernic’s been getting away with similar year after year.

The company announced on X that preorders for its Ultimate 3E Controller for Xbox with TMR sticks, Hall effect triggers, and swappable ABXY buttons will be available for preorder starting on May 26th. But while it was announced during CES 2026 with an estimated Q2 release, the controller now isn’t shipping until August.
The new Atlas tool lets users “build a fully interactive world,” and to encourage people to use it, Hidden Door will pay the creators of worlds that meet its guidelines — 30 percent of the platform’s subscription revenue will go to creators.
I tried Hidden Door last year, if you want to read more about it.

The tags, introduced as part of the cross-company Accessible Games Initiative effort, will initially show up on listings for four games, including Rayman Legends, Ubisoft says. The tags will be added to more games throughout 2026 “and beyond.”

When it announced price hikes this week, Sony focused on the cheapest Essential tier. As we suspected though, now the new prices are live, Extra and Premium have gone up too. Extra now starts at $16.99 per month, while Premium is $19.99.
As one of many updates to Steam store tags, Valve has added “Bullet Heaven,” which it defines as: “The opposite of Bullet Hell; Focus on upgrades while automatically attacking hordes of enemies”.
I’m fine with it, but Aftermath has a great argument about why it doesn’t work. What do you think?

Fellowship Entertainment has rights for brands like The Lord of the Rings and Tomb Raider, and Embracer believes the spun-out company will “thrive the most by becoming its own standalone business.” It’s Embracer’s latest big shift, of which it has had a few in recent years.
It’s been a long time since Far Cry 6 released in 2021, but Ubisoft says it expects new releases in the Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Ghost Recon franchises in its 2027-2028 and 2028-2029 fiscal years. Still, that could mean a new Far Cry game is still a ways out —the company only just started its 2026-2027 fiscal year in April.
A security bulletin from Nvidia breaks down new vulnerabilities found in some of its GPU drivers for Windows and Linux and vGPU software. As Digital Foundry and Club386 point out, they affect drivers prior to 596.36 on the current branch, so if you’re running the most recently released update (596.49, which was released on May 12th), you don’t have anything to do.
Warhorse Studios is developing an “open-world Middle-Earth RPG” and a “new Kingdom Come adventure” The company says it will share more about both when “the time is right.”
It’s another way to remember your journey in what’s already a very memorable game.
From Recreate Games, which was working on the contest for its multiplayer party game Party Animals:
Even though our original intention was to encourage more diverse forms of creative expression and lower the barrier to entry, allowing more players who love Party Animals to participate, we mistakenly tied “lowering the barrier” together with “using AI.” In doing so, we overlooked the potential offense and harm that the ongoing debate surrounding AI-generated content could cause to our players and the creator community.
June is always packed with video game events, and it looks like Sony is getting a jump on things with its next State of Play, which will stream on June 2nd. The event will last more than an hour, and include another look at Insomniac’s Wolverine game.

iPhone and iPad users in the European Union, Japan, and other countries can now download Fortnite directly from the App Store, Epic Games announced on Tuesday:
Fortnite is returning to the App Store now because we are confident that once Apple is forced to show its costs, governments around the world will not allow Apple junk fees to stand.
Epic Games brought Fortnite back to the US App Store last year following a legal win against Apple. It’s still not available in Australia, however.
Pictonico!, launching on iOS and Android on May 28th, looks very weird, but I do think dropping your friends into WarioWare-style minigames could be a recipe for something great.
The game will be free to start with a “demo of some minigames,” according to the App Store listing, and it will have two “volumes” of games you can buy: one for $7.99 and one for $5.99.
