The Google Pixel 9A is getting a partial price hike according to a new leak from Android Headlines. The phone will start at $499 for 128GB of storage, the same price as last year’s Pixel 8A, though there’ll be a premium to pay for the 256GB version: that will apparently cost $599, an increase of $40 on the 8A equivalent.

Android Headlines had previously reported that the 9A would stay at the same price as the 8A, which now appears to be only half-true. The bump does bring pricing in line with other Pixel 9 phones, where it costs $100 to upgrade from 128GB to 256GB.

The site also reported on the phone’s price in Canada, though claims this is “a bit more flexible” because of currency fluctuations. There, the Pixel 9A will allegedly cost $679 for 128GB and $809 for 256GB, compared to $679 and $759 for the previous generation.

The Pixel 9A is expected to launch earlier than usual, with a previous leak pointing to a mid-March release, two months ahead of the 8A’s May release.

That’s not all that will be new. Leaks so far suggest a larger 6.3-inch display, a move away from the Pixel line’s signature camera bar housing, and an upgrade to Google’s Tensor G4 chipset. The rumored 48 megapixel main camera is lower resolution than the 8A’s 64MP sensor, but is likely larger, so could still represent a decent upgrade. An expected 5,100mAh battery would also be the biggest in any Pixel phone so far.
