JerryRigEverything’s Kindle Colorsoft teardown reveals how its E Ink screen works.
Amazon’s first Kindle with a color screen has been dismantled, slashed, hacked, and scratched by JerryRigEverything who found that you may want to get a case to protect the plastic top layer of the Colorsoft’s screen.
Using a USB microscope, the teardown also reveals how its E Ink screen actually works, producing color using black and white pigments that block or boost tinted pixels on an extra color filter layer.
