If you, like me, played countless hours of Star Fox 64 growing up, then I think you’ll very much enjoy the 10 tracks from the upcoming Switch 2 remake’s soundtrack that Nintendo added to its music app. They’re so dang good.
Nintendo also uploaded the game’s prologue, which was shown in this week’s announcement direct, as a separate video.
Takashi Tezuka is stepping down at the end of June. He joined the company in 1984, and worked on the original Super Mario Bros. and Legend of Zelda games, before directing titles including Super Mario Bros. 3 and A Link to the Past. More recently, he was a producer on Super Mario Bros. Wonder.
When using GameChat, you can appear as an interactive avatar “that mirrors your expressions and movements,” Nintendo says. There are also AR filters that let you add “a pair of Star Fox-like ears or a Falco-inspired beak that moves when you talk.”
Check the avatars out in Nintendo’s Star Fox direct, or in the image and GIF below. Very silly. The game launches on June 25th.
It starts at 6PM ET / 3PM ET today — yes, that’s five minutes from now. You can watch it on YouTube. The show will last about 15 minutes, Nintendo says.
Nintendo added a new epilogue to the storybook. It doesn’t tie the game to the movie or add much to the story. It’s mostly just left players confused. If you don’t feel like firing up the game to unlock the new bit, you can watch it below.
Possessor(s) was a bit of a slow burn for me when I reviewed it last year, but I’m glad I stuck with it.
In addition to Switch 2, it’s also available on PC and PS5, and the game has received a permanent price drop on all platforms to $9.99.
Unlike the grip that Nintendo bundles with its latest console, Dbrand’s $19.95 Joy-Lock Controller Holder lets you adjust the angle of the Switch 2’s Joy-Cons using a ratcheting mechanism. You can also add a pair of beefier grips for an additional $19.95, and enhance the thumbsticks with a pair of stick-on textured caps for $9.95.

There’s just something impossibly charming about the storybook art style of the upcoming Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, but if you’re curious how the Switch 2 game actually plays, Nintendo just dropped a six-minute-long overview trailer. The only thing missing is Donald Glover.
Resurrecting 1974’s Wild Gunman isn’t a matter of extracting a ROM and firing up an emulator. The light gun game used two projectors and live-action footage spread across multiple film reels. Callan Brown managed to get his hands on them, scan them, and built a replica of the original cabinet.
Arriving later this year, Professor Layton and the New World of Steam will be available on PlayStation 5 and Steam in addition to the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. There’s still no firm release date for this puzzle-filled title just yet, but you can check out the latest trailer below.
Nintendo just launched the latest batch of NES classics for Switch Online subscribers, and while the headline title is Pac-Man, you might also want to check out Mendel Palace, which happens to be the first ever game developed by Pokémon studio Game Freak.
Nintendo announced that the next entry in its beloved music series will be out this summer, launching on the Switch on July 2nd. Hopefully they bring Beyonce back for the advertising campaign.
You can now get the retro colored buttons featured on the classic grey version of the 8BitDo 64 controller for the other models. The company’s 8BitDo 64 Classic Button Set upgrade kit is available for preorder now for $3.99 and ships on May 15th. Installation doesn’t look too difficult.
While thousands of smartphones and cameras were trained on the sky on April 1st capturing the historic launch of Artemis II, Redditor Cambot72 recorded it on a Nintendo 3DS XL. The 0.3-megapixel footage has some retro Apollo vibes, and you can download the original version to watch in 3D if you’ve still got a 3DS.
This looks completely impractical, but is also awesome?
Back in November, the US Patent and Trademark Office decided to reexamine a highly controversial and confusing Nintendo patent related to summoning characters and making them fight. The patent examiner has since issued a non-final rejection of the patent, meaning that the patent isn’t yet KO’d and Nintendo can still choose to battle with new arguments.
If you’re a patents nerd craving an extremely in-depth breakdown, Games Fray has you covered. And for those of you who aren’t up on patents, The Verge’s Kallie Plagge wrote a great explainer about the Pokémon patent last year.
In celebration of April Fools Day, Pokopia is running a small, one-day-only event where pokémon will impersonate each other and ask you to figure out who they’re pretending to be.

After creating an HDMI upgrade kit for the Sega Genesis called the Megaswitch HD, Stanislav Parhomovich has announced a similar solution for the original Super Nintendo. By avoiding the console’s analog output hardware and connecting directly to its digital buses, the Superswitch HD mod will enable crisp 1080p output (upscaled) over HDMI.
It may be called the Super Mario Galaxy Movie, but Nintendo’s next film is giving off some Smash Bros. vibes now that we know Fox McCloud will make an appearance.
