OnePlus

While Oppo is one of the world’s largest tech companies, it’s better known for its subbrand OnePlus in the West. OnePlus started out producing just one or two flagship smartphones a year but has since launched a midrange lineup called Nord and has entered other product categories like headphones and tablets. Though the hype around the brand isn’t what it once was, OnePlus is notable for being one of the few Android manufacturers to still release handsets in the US.

The OnePlus Open launch event is here.

After months of teases, OnePlus is finally kicking off its launch event for the OnePlus Open, its first foldable. We have a pretty good idea of what the device looks after Oppo launched its version of the device, the Find N3, earlier today. Check out all the pre-launch leaks and announcements in our storystream.

Here’s another OnePlus Open video to whet your appetite.

YouTuber Michael Fisher (aka MrMobile) has published an early look of the upcoming foldable’s hinge and durability tests ahead of its official announcement. Unfortunately, the video doesn’t contain the phone’s two most important specs (its IP-rating, and the total number of folds it’s rated to survive). I guess for those we’re going to have to wait until October 19th.

OnePlus is rumored to be working on a new smartwatch after its rocky first attempts.

According to leaker Max Jambor, OnePlus is gearing up to release a new smartwatch next year with a round display. It’ll follow the “big, basic, and boring” OnePlus Watch in 2021, and last year’s affordable and India-exclusive OnePlus Nord Watch. Parent company Oppo is also rumored to be working on a round-faced smartwatch of its own, coincidence?

A (partial) sneak peek at the OnePlus foldable in the flesh.

Unbox Therapy has published an early unboxing of the upcoming device and interviewed CEO Pete Lau. Although the unboxing only gives a limited view of the foldable (OnePlus has plenty more announcements to tease out before launch, after all), it does give a nice look at how flat it’s able to fold shut.

The best way to share things between iOS and Android is going away.

OnePlus is shutting down its Clipt app at the end of September. Clipt was a cloud clipboard service with apps for Android and iOS and a Chrome extension. If you used both an Android phone and iOS or Mac (like say, oh I don’t know, ME), it made it extremely easy to share links, text, and even files and images between your phone and an iPhone, iPad, or desktop computer, almost like a cross platform AirDrop or Continuity.

But since all good things must end, OnePlus is apparently shutting down the team that built and supports Clipt.

Anyone got any cross-platform cloud clipboard recommendations that don’t suck?

OnePlus’ upcoming foldable might come in October.

At TechCrunch Disrupt on Wednesday, the company announced its new OnePlus Open is releasing “soon,” but leaker Max Jambor is providing some more specific insight: apparently, it will get its full reveal on October 19th, and a release soon after.

OnePlus hinted at the foldable’s name, “Open,” in July. Jambor reported that month that the device had an August release date.

And now, a potential sneak peek at the OnePlus 11T.

The new OnePlus Ace 2 Pro is only available in China, but last year’s Ace Pro got an international release as the OnePlus 10T. Key specs of the Ace 2 Pro include up to 24GB of RAM, 150W fast charging, and a neat new technology that attempts to make its touchscreen more usable in the rain. Hopefully it doesn’t remain China-exclusive for long.

OnePlus’ latest Nord arrives in the UK a month late.

After its official launch in markets across Europe and Asia, the £499 Nord 3 is finally available to preorder from OnePlus in the UK with shipping and general sale expected to begin in 15 days on August 17th. The company previously blamed “logistical challenges around customs” for its decision to temporarily halt direct sales in the country.

OnePlus would like to remind everyone it’s also doing a foldable.

With all eyes on Samsung’s new foldables yesterday, Oppo subbrand OnePlus couldn’t help itself. “We OPEN when others FOLD,” the brand tweeted, in reference to the rumored name of its foldable. It confirmed its foldable plans in February, when it said it’d be releasing the foldable in the second half of the year.

The OnePlus Nord 3, coming July 5th.

Two years after the the Nord 2, and one year after the Nord 2T comes the Nord 3. It’s launching next month, and images shared by OnePlus president and COO Kinder Liu suggest we’re looking at a triple-camera phone with dual flashes that’ll be sold in green and black.

OnePlus Nord N30 5G review: midrange performance, budget phone problems

The Nord N30 is a $300 phone that performs like a $500 phone, but it’s held back by a mediocre camera system — and last year’s Pixel 6A hovering over its shoulder.

OnePlus’ new budget phone lands stateside.

The Nord CE 3 Lite is officially coming to the US as the Nord N30 5G. It’s mostly the same, except fast charging is a slower 50W and there’s no lime green color option — booooo.

You can get all the details in my full review. The N30 is available starting today for $264 from T-Mobile and an unlocked version will cost $299.

OnePlus’ first tablet brings high-end features and specs to a midrange price point. It reminds me of the OnePlus we used to know.

OnePlus denies report that it’s exiting Europe.

A recent rumor claims that OnePlus and Oppo are preparing to leave the UK, France, Germany, and the Netherlands. But OnePlus, at least, says this isn’t true.

“OnePlus will not exit from Europe and the UK and maintains stable operations in local markets,” the company’s global PR manager James Paterson said in a statement.

A spokesperson from Oppo did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The price is right for the OnePlus 11 5G — $699 to be exact — but after a tumultuous few years for the company, is anyone buying?

OnePlus’ foldable could copy Samsung’s naming.

A regulatory filing spotted by Mukul Sharma on Twitter suggests that the rumored OnePlus foldables could be called the “V Flip” and the “V Fold.” As 9to5Google points out, that branding sure seems familiar...
