Google’s revamping Wear OS app requirements... and hiding bezels while it’s at it.

Google’s new Wear OS app requirements are meant to create a uniform experience across the platform. That’s great! But one of the new changes requires developers to use black backgrounds for all Tiles and apps.

Why? Black backgrounds make it easier to hide bezels and the Pixel Watch has thicc bezels. Just look at the photo below. There’s no hiding bezels with color backgrounds.

Apple is reportedly making strides in noninvasive blood glucose tracking.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says the company’s hit some “major milestones” with noninvasive blood glucose monitoring for the Apple Watch. Namely, that it’s reached the “proof of concept” stage with an iPhone-sized prototype in the works.

But don’t get too excited yet. It’ll be years before this ever reaches consumers — if it ever does. (Apple’s already been working on it for over 12 years.) Still, progress is progress.

Next time you lose your TV remote, consider using your Apple Watch as a makeshift remote instead. You can also use it to control your iPhone and iPad, or unlock your Mac. If you’ve got a new-ish BMW, Genesis, or Kia, you might even be able to use it to unlock your car. Here’s how.

If you have tattoos, read this before buying a smartwatch.

Unfortunately, smartwatches don’t work well if you have tattoos on your wrists or arms. That’s because optical heart rate sensors struggle with tattoo ink. But if you’re proud of your tatts and interested in wearable tech, we’ve put together several alternatives and workarounds.
