On this day in 1971, Intel created the world’s first microprocessor.
Despite being founded just three years prior, Intel rocked the tech world with the 4004 microprocessor, a complete general-purpose CPU on a single chip that allowed small machines to perform the same calculations as much larger systems.
Just four engineers are credited with the majority of its development, which formed the base of what eventually became the first personal computers.
