This facial recognition site thinks you look just like your great, great-grandmother.
PimEyes, a “face search engine,” has populated its facial recognition database by scraping pictures from Ancestry.com without consent, allegedly allowing its algorithm to identify living people using images of deceased relatives by indexing their facial features.
Ancestry prohibits data scraping. PimEyes acknowledged its crawlers had “somehow broken the rule,” and is now blocking Ancestry’s domain and erasing facial indexes related to it.
