The majority of influencers don’t say when they’re advertising.
That’s according to a study performed in the EU, which looked at 576 influencers across major social platforms. While 97 percent of influencers posted commercial content, only 20 percent — or one in five — disclosed these posts as advertising.
The EU has consumer laws in place that require influencers to disclose when they’re advertising. As a result of the study, the EU has “earmarked” 358 influencers for “further investigation.”
