Adobe is teaming up with Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group to add a library of licensed music clips to the Premiere mobile video editing app. No specific musicians have been announced with this partnership, but Adobe said it will include “popular songs” from “leading artists,” and enable Premiere mobile users to quickly jump on “the latest trend.”

“By bringing licensed music from UMG artists into Adobe Premiere mobile, we’re giving creators new ways to build their stories around the songs they love for the first time, while helping our artists and songwriters reach new audiences,” Universal Music Group’s Bryan Stone said in the announcement.

Adobe says this feature is “coming soon,” and will allow Premiere mobile users to:

  • Add up to 60 seconds of a popular track directly to the video.
  • Browse, search and preview trending music by artist or track, filter by genre and duration, bookmark favorites, and explore popular music through label-featured collections.
  • Access customizable templates that are already paired with music to speed up editing.
  • Export finished videos in Premiere mobile and post to licensed social platforms.

The Premiere Pro desktop app and Premiere mobile both already include a built-in library of royalty-free music that editors can work into their videos, but licensed audio needs to be manually imported. This update aims to make it easier to incorporate recognizable music into video edits, and help Adobe’s mobile video editor compete against popular rivals like CapCut. We have asked Adobe if these updates will also be coming to Premiere Pro, and will update if we hear back.
