Now that Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers has issued an order preventing Apple from charging a commission on sales made outside the App Store, the company has confirmed that it will appeal. Here’s the company’s statement, sent by senior director of corporate communications, Olivia Dalton:
We strongly disagree with the decision. We will comply with the court’s order and we will appeal.
Dutch right-wing activist Eva Vlaardingerbroek reported receiving a message from Apple, saying the company “detected a targeted mercenary spyware attack against your iPhone.” The message adds, “This attack is likely targeting you specifically because of who you are or what you do.”
Italian journalist Ciro Pellegrino reported receiving a similar message that indicated Apple had sent warnings to victims in 100 countries, as reported by TechCrunch. Apple last warned users about a spyware attack in July 2024.
In a press release about TSMC breaking ground on a new Arizona chip fab, the Commerce Department quotes Cook:
“We’re proud to support the high-skilled American jobs of tomorrow. As TSMC Arizona’s first and largest customer, we’re excited for the future of American innovation and the incredible opportunities it will create.”
At the site yesterday, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick told CNBC Apple is supposedly waiting for “the robot arms” to build iPhones in the US.

LUTNICK: He said, “I need to have the robotic arms ... do it at a scale and at a precision that I can bring it here. And the day I see that available, it’s coming here, because I don’t like to employ all these people foreign.”

If developers grow dependent on third party development libraries and tools, they can only take advantage of platform enhancements if and when the third party chooses to adopt the new features. We cannot be at the mercy of a third party deciding if and when they will make our enhancements available to our developers.
