After six months, the UK confirms Google and Apple are both big tech companies.

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has proposed giving them “strategic market status” for iOS and Android, since over 90 percent of UK mobile devices run either OS.

It took the CMA since January to figure out what the EU did two years ago, and somehow it’s not done yet — it’ll take until October to confirm the proposal, around the same time it will “begin consulting” on its roadmaps to rein the two in.

Apple is teasing something about its show from Breaking Bad’s creator.

I’m very confused by this tweet, but maybe it means Apple is close to sharing more about the upcoming show from Vince Gilligan. Apple has also posted a YouTube video that’s counting down to 3PM ET on Friday.

Update: Apple posted a countdown video.

Ted Lasso steps back on to the pitch.

Apple announced that production is officially underway for the previously-revealed season 4 of Ted Lasso. There’s even a photo to prove it. More interesting, though, is the news that a bunch of the cast are joining Jason Sudeikis in returning to the show, including Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt. and Jeremy Swift.

The next iPad Pro might add a new camera.

In Mark Gurman’s Power On newsletter for Bloomberg, he notes that iOS 26’s public beta is expected next week, and a possible tweak for upcoming M5-powered iPad Pros..

The M4 iPad Pro that launched last year switched the orientation of its front-facing camera for use in landscape mode since many people use it like that or in a laptop-like stand, but the new model could also include a portrait-oriented camera, so video calls look fine no matter which way you’re holding it.
