Google’s Pixel 8 might get Wi-Fi 7 — but ultra-wideband may only come to the Pro.

FCC filings suggest both the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro will get the yet-to-be-certified Wi-Fi standard (available now in some routers), as reported by Droid Life and shared by Android expert Mishaal Rahman.

But the non-Pro Pixel 8 might lack the ultra-wideband chip needed for Google’s upcoming “Hold Close to Cast” feature and the same goes for the rumored Pixel Watch 2.

Our first glimpse (probably) of the Pixel Watch 2.

Google did it again. For a hot second, the Pixel 8 Pro and what appears to be the Pixel Watch 2 popped up on a Google Store page. While it’s pretty clear this is the Pixel 8 Pro, it’s hard to definitively say this is the Pixel Watch 2 because of the angle. I’ve been holding up my Pixel Watch next to this picture for a good while and it does appear thinner and flatter than the current watch.

It probably is! It’d make sense since we already got an FCC filing. And while this isn’t the best angle, I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw a few more leaks before Google makes everything official.

Google might let you hand off music from your phone to your Pixel Tablet.

Given the tablet is designed to be docked, this makes a lot of sense to me. Mishaal Rahman has the details.

Alright, you sold me, I guess I’m getting a Pixel Fold.

What’s the good of being named Wesley if I don’t have a Star Trek: The Next Generation-era console to fiddle with? The Trek-themed launcher in this TikTok from thetechpreacher might be just the thing... if I had a Pixel Fold.

Yes, these launchers have been around forever, but look, I forgot about them, and this video awakened something in me.

I wish he said where it’s from. I think it’s this one?

It looks like Google is planning to revamp its camera app UI alongside the Pixel 8.

Leaker Kamila Wojciechowska wrote up some leaked updates to Google’s camera app UI — changes she says in her Android Authority story will arrive alongside the still-unannounced Pixel 8.

Changes mostly look like tweaks to how you access settings or change camera modes, and one — swiping up to get to settings — sounds like a nice reachability adjustment.

Audio Magic Eraser could be the Pixel 8’s next big feature — and here’s a legitimate-looking video showing it off.

You can see the video on X / Twitter here or in the embedded tweet below. In the video, a person turns on the feature and largely removes the loud noises of a skateboard.

Take it with a grain of salt: this is from an account created this month that has no other posts. But it does seem plausible that this is a Google-made video for a new Google product feature.

We’ve reached out to Google for comment.

Google’s bug fixes in the August update are for the Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet.

Pixel owners should see the August software update starting to roll out. In addition to security fixes, the new update apparently cleans up some Bluetooth and UI issues for the new Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet device that might have messed with wireless keyboards, the launcher, and certain Live Wallpapers.
