Remember the total nonsense checkmarks Tumblr started selling in the early days of Twitter’s paid blue checks? Well, they’ve evolved. And you can put (almost) as many of them next to your blog name as you want.

Twitter might be a mess, but the CPSC is still a gem.
And then you find out (again) that they pay for Twitter Blue. (We still love Joanna, obviously.)

“It’s totally cool to say that you want to have your advertising appear in certain places of Twitter and not in other places,” he said at the Possible marketing conference. “But it is not cool to say what Twitter will do. The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, says it’s “pausing” its use of Twitter after the platform put a “Government-funded Media” label on its main account, joining the likes of NPR and PBS.
The Elon Musk-owned service then changed the label to read “70% Government-funded Media,” before adjusting it to 69%, cementing Musk’s status as the least funny person to have ever opened a Twitter account.
Messina said goodbye to the platform on Saturday after his verification check was removed:
My choice isn’t about the badge; it’s about everything that lead up to the badge and how it has been handled. Whatever Twitter was before deserved more dignity and consideration than it’s received in the last six months.
His account has now been set to private.
Messina’s suggestion, back in 2007, to use the # symbol to organize groups became a defining feature for Twitter. The platform’s new owner, however, isn’t much of a fan.
