The owner of @X didn’t get the big payout from Elon Musk people expected.
Many expected the previous owner of @X on Twitter to be handsomely compensated when the platform took over the handle after its rebrand. But the payday never came. “They just took it essentially — kinda what I thought might happen,” Gene X Hwang tells The Telegraph.
“All’s well that ends well,” Hwang subsequently tweeted from the far less prestigious @x12345678998765 handle.

Twitter’s half-sign is still hanging in there.
As you can see, Musk didn’t disappear the remainder of the Twitter HQ sign before 8:55PM last night, and this morning it was still hanging in there at 10:05AM.
(I love that the sign has a built-in clock.)
It’s still not clear why work stopped yesterday or when it will resume. The SFPD decided it was “not a police matter,” and yet a cruiser was reportedly on site an hour ago.

The cofounder of Facebook has a theory about Elon’s favorite stat.
Ever since he took over Twitter, Elon Musk has pointed to “total active user seconds” or other similar metrics, claiming they show more usage of Twitter than ever.
