Coming up with the outro for a podcast can be tricky.

You want to say something really insightful, and you want to get people excited for the next episode of your podcast. You do not, generally, want to be dealing with what these two dealt with. I’m just impressed they got the audio they needed.

    I don’t think Meta knows it’s a game company

Meta seems very committed to making hardware to usher in a whole new world and racing away from the games that drive its VR business.

Picard has resurrected one of Star Trek’s best villains

We’re three episodes into the final season of Star Trek: Picard, and it’s now much, much clearer exactly what kind of enemy Picard and company are facing.

Today on the Vergecast we marveled at Marvel fatigue.

But before we talked about Marvel, Victoria Song came on to help me figure out just what’s going on with the rumors of an Apple Watch that can detect diabetes. Then Ariel Shapiro did a fantastic interview about podcast misinformation, and Charles Pulliam-Moore came on to dissect the latest episode of The Last of Us before we chatted about the backlash to Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

Mrs. Davis is an AI here to destroy the world, and apparently only a nun can stop it.

At least, this is what I understand the concept of Damon Lindlof’s new show to be. It’s premiering on Peacock April 20, and stars Betty Gilpin as a nun who has dedicated herself to stopping a trendy new AI that may or may not be destroying the world. The first teaser for the new show manages to nail the vibe every AI startup in Silicon Valley is trying so this could end up being a very prescient piece of TV from the guy who gave us Lost and The Leftovers.

Rachel Weisz is playing queer identical twin gynecologists in a TV adaptation of Dead Ringers.

She’s taking on one of Jeremy Irons’ best roles in the series that’s headed to Amazon Prime April 21st. With directors like Jennifer’s Body’s Karyn Kusama on board, this is practically guaranteed to be a super stylish show that makes you very uncomfortable even as it forces you to reckon with big themes around gender and sexuality. I’ll almost certainly be watching all six episodes.

This week on The Vergecast we talked about Section 230.

On the latest episode (you can find the audio feeds here) TC, Nilay, and Alex broke down this week’s Supreme Court hearings that could significantly impact the internet.

After a break and a lineup change, we also dig into the new fraud charges filed against Sam Bankman-Fried, Spotify’s AI DJ (I don’t trust it), the Microsoft vs. Sony battle over Activision, and Tesla’s new California engineering HQ.

Just how much does Paramount Plus rely on Taylor Sheridan to succeed?

We’ve talked a lot about how Paramount is all in on the Sheridan Cinematic Universe, but in this fantastic breakdown of the fracturing relationship between Sheridan, Paramount, and Kevin Costner, there’s one truly wild nugget of information. Apparently, 1 in 4 subscribers to Paramount Plus only watch Taylor Sheridan fare. If you’re one of them, try Picard season 3, it’s great.

Today on the Vergecast we had a mega debate on the best form of multiroom audio.

Okay, I also talked with Adi and Sean about their review of the PSVR 2 and we tried to figure out why it isn’t backwards compatible with games from the original PSVR headset. But then Chris Welch, Jen Tuohy, and Chris Person and I debated the best options for multiroom audio.
