Senators are urging the SEC to investigate how its X account was hacked.

After the SEC’s X account was hijacked to post the agency’s premature approval of Bitcoin ETFs, Senators Ron Wyden (D-OR) and Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) are looking for answers — particularly, whether the SEC had 2FA turned on.

SEC’s failure to follow cybersecurity best practices is inexcusable, particularly given the agency’s new requirements for cybersecurity disclosure... We urge you to investigate the agency’s practices related to the use of MFA, and in particular, phishing-resistant MFA, to identify any remaining security gaps that must be addressed.

Fubo subscriptions are going up in price.

The live TV streaming service announced this week that it’s raising the price of all its plans by $5 per month, which now sit at:

    Pro: $79.99 / month

    Elite: $89.99 / month

    Premier: $99.99 / month

    Ultimate: $104.99 / month

Fubo is also raising the cost of its regional sports fee and Starz add-on by $1. It blames the increase on higher prices from programming partners and says it’s “forced to pass some of that increase on to you.”

Instagram’s latest job cuts reportedly affect around 60 workers.

Reports from Business Insider and The Information say the impacted employees were technical program managers at Instagram. They will reportedly have until March to apply for a new role within the company.

Meta made cuts across the company last year, but it seems job cuts are continuing into 2024. Google, Discord, Twitch, and Unity all announced layoffs this month, too.

The FCC wants to know what automakers are doing to protect domestic violence survivors.

Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel wrote letters to nine major automakers, including GM, Toyota, Ford, and Tesla, to ask what kind of data they collect about their drivers and how they protect their privacy. Rosenworcel sent similar letters to Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile, too.

The letters came in response to a report from The New York Times last month, which detailed how a domestic violence survivor was harassed by her abuser using her car’s connected services. “We must do everything we can to help survivors stay safe,” Rosenworcel said. “We need to work with auto and wireless industry leaders to find solutions.”
