Unionized QA staffers working on Dragon Age: Dreadwolf have been laid off.

The contractors were laid off from Keywords Studios, reports Polygon. The staffers voted to unionize in June 2022.

BioWare, the developer of Dreadwolf, is also being sued by former employees who allege they are owed better severance packages.

    The limit does exist, apparently.

Paramount already removed its full upload of Mean Girls across 23 video clips. Seems the promotion was a Mean Girls Day-only event, sadly.

Halide now offers special Action Button features when you’re inside the app.

When you’re using Halide, the Action Button on the iPhone 15 Pro phones can now, according to the app’s patch notes for version 2.13:

    Toggle manual or autofocus

    Cycle through your lenses

Switch between auto and manual exposure modes

Switch between 12 and 48MP capture modes

    Toggle RAW capture

and even capture a photo! (though, with a delay - we suggest using the volume button instead)

There are more details in the patch notes, so I encourage you to read them for yourself. Using a Shortcut, you can also use the Action Button to open up Halide, too.

The tools include a background generator for product images, an image expander to help make images for varying aspect ratios, and a way to generate variations on copy. Meta initially launched the tools in its AI Sandbox earlier this year.

Apple is testing new options for StandBy in iOS 17.1.

The second beta of the upcoming iOS release adds options for a StandBy display to shut off automatically, after 20 seconds, or never, as reported by MacRumors. There are a handful of other additions, too, and watchOS 10.1 beta users can now try Double Tap.

Netflix’s head of ad sales is leaving.

Jeremi Gorman, who joined Netflix from Snap last year, is departing the company, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Shortly after Gorman left Snap, Netflix launched its ad-supported tier, which had nearly 5 million global monthly active users as of May. Gorman will be replaced by Amy Reinhard, who has been at Netflix for seven years.

Netflix also made two big promotions: Elizabeth Stone has become its chief technology officer, while Eunice Kim is now the company’s chief product officer. (Greg Peters, who became a co-CEO of Netflix earlier this year, was once the company’s CPO.)

    More layoffs at Twitch.

The job cuts hit Twitch’s customer experience organization, according to GamesIndustry.biz. Amazon cut “just over” 400 jobs at Twitch earlier this year. Zach Bussey, who covers Twitch closely, says Tuesday’s cuts are “significantly smaller” than that round of layoffs.
