    EA’s free-to-play Lord of the Rings mobile game is set to launch this year.

    The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth was announced in May and entered testing in August, and EA expects to fully launch it this year, COO Laura Miele said on the company’s earnings call on Tuesday. Hopefully EA keeps the game around longer than Apex Legends Mobile.

    Meta’s VR social network is coming to 2D platforms “soon.”

    Horizon Worlds’ launch on the web and mobile appears to be creeping closer, based on Meta’s vague language in Monday’s blog post introducing members-only worlds on the platform.

    I’ve also updated our story with new information about the alpha test for the new worlds. Meta tells me that the alpha will start with “about a dozen” creators before expanding to “about 100” in the coming weeks. Read more here.
