    One ticket to Threads please.

Meta is teasing a July 6th launch for its Twitter competitor Threads in the Instagram app. Type “threads” into its search box and a small ticket icon will appear that links to an animation showing a 10am ET launch time.

The ticket’s QR code links to threads.net, where there’s another QR code that links to the Threads App Store listing that revealed the July 6th launch date.

    Bluesky reopens its doors.

Over the weekend, decentralized microblogging service Bluesky said it was halting signups after issues at Twitter prompted a flood of new users to join and create stability issues. But as of today, that limitation has been reversed.

That said, Bluesky is still invite-only, so you’ll need a unique code to sign up.

A post from the official BlueSky account announcing that sign-ups have re-opened.

Twitter’s API isn’t just expensive now, it’s also increasingly unreliable.

Twitter made headlines earlier this year when it changed up its API pricing, with new tiers costing as much as $42,000 a month. But even once they pay, developers are telling Mashable that they’re suffering with poor customer support and features being abruptly discontinued or changed, seemingly without warning.

Wikimedia sounds alarm over UK’s Online Safety Bill. Again.

Wikipedia’s operator, the Wikimedia Foundation, is once again warning that the UK’s sprawling and controversial attempt to regulate and age-gate the internet is “simply incompatible” with how it operates.

It wants amendments included in the bill to exempt public interest projects like Wikipedia. Check out Wikimedia’s specific objections in its blog post from last month, and an explainer on the legislation here.
