Your Jsaux Steam Deck dock is now a ROG Ally dock too.

I had no idea that Jsaux’s Steam Deck docks were updatable — but the company’s now letting you flash a new BIOS that supports the Asus ROG Ally’s 30W Turbo Mode.

Some of them need a 100W USB-C PD charger for 30W turbo, while others can do it with the OG 65W brick. Either way, Jsaux proves yet again that it’s paying attention!

One of the best VR games is getting a third installment in two weeks.

I Expect You To Die 3 is coming to the Meta Quest 2 (and Pro) headsets on August 17th for $25, and Windows (via Steam) on September 28th.

I loved the original, and Adi called the sequel “the most fun I’ve had solving puzzles this year.” It’s a hit combination of zany ‘60s spy movie and VR escape room that you can comfortably play sitting down.

Linux gamers now outnumber Mac gamers on Steam.

Windows is still the vast majority of gaming PCs — over 96 percent — but the Steam Deck has thrust Linux into second-place, according to Valve’s latest hardware survey.

A full 42 percent of those Linux gamers are on SteamOS Holo specifically, which (for now) only officially ships on the Steam Deck. Is it time for Apple to finally get gamers in gear?

I love this USB-C cable tester — it’s my new decoder ring.

For $8 plus shipping, it totally does the job, even if it’s not nearly as powerful as ChargerLab’s KM003C and KT002. Sadly, Tindie is currently out of stock, but CuVoodoo might make another batch of testers if you add your name to the Tindie waitlist.

New AMD gaming GPUs are coming before October 1st.

Not sure how I missed this on the earnings call, but Su says “new, enthusiast-class Radeon 7000 series cards” are coming Q3 — a quarter that ends on October 1st, less than two months from today!

VideoCardz rightly points out that these “enthusiast” GPUs will almost certainly be the RX 7700, 7800 or 7800 XT, because AMD uses “ultra-enthusiast” to describe 7900, and “mainstream” to describe 7600.

Anker is finally (almost) making good on its all-metal hotend promise.

I’m not sure why the company is charging money when it was supposed to be free (see image from the Kickstarter below), but the new all-metal hotend on the new AnkerMake M5C is coming to the original M5 as well.

Backers will only pay $1 plus shipping to upgrade their M5, and other owners can get it for $10 if they buy soon (it’ll cost $35 afterward). Not bad?

AMD’s shovels for AI gold miners are coming Q4.

AMD’s MI300 data center AI accelerator chips will ramp in the fourth quarter of this year, CEO Lisa Su just said during the company’s Q2 earnings call.

She says the company already has customers for the MI300X generative AI chip. “We expect early deployments as we go into the first half of 2024, and then we would expect more volume in the second half of ‘24 as those things fully qualify,” says Su.

AMD projects data center AI accelerators could be a $150 billion market by 2027.
