    AMD didn’t need to announce the Ryzen 7840U because these companies just did.

    Aokzoe is now claiming to have the “world’s first AMD Ryzen 7840U handheld.” Ayaneo is naming it too.

    AMD would rather you pay attention to the Z1 Extreme, a chip that’s apparently identical save “entirely new power ranges and optimize[d] voltage curves specifically for this use case” that “should not be trivialized,” AMD’s Don Woligroski tells The Verge.     Qualcomm has its own game upscaling tech now.

    “Snapdragon Game Super Resolution,” or GSR for short, is like AMD’s FSR and Nvidia’s DLSS for mobile. But it’s just spatial, not temporal, meaning it upscales each frame as a still image instead of comparing it to neighbors for smoother video.

    Also, unlike competitors, Qualcomm declined to provide any real-world examples of before-and-after performance and graphical quality when we asked.

    Intel lost $2.8 billion last quarter.

    Q1 results are out (PDF). We knew the PC market was still struggling and Intel’s actually under the 40 percent revenue dip it forecast alongside January’s $0.7 billion loss, but that’s still a lot of money to lose! Intel says it’s still on track to ship five nodes in four years.
