Developer Riley Testut’s screenshot of emulators running on Apple’s Vision Pro SDK shows a likely impossible dream.

Testut, who created the Delta emulator and alternative iOS app store Alt Store, posted a tantalizing toot showing what looks like an emulator museum running on the Vision Pro SDK.

“You won’t be able to install emulators on the Vision Pro without jailbreaking the $3,500 headset,” you say.

Yes, I know. Look, just let me have this.

iOS 17’s second developer beta doesn’t add much.

9to5Mac has a list of the changes so far, and they’re pretty minor. Honestly, the biggest change for me is that my phone isn’t weirdly warm.

There’s no public beta yet, but if you want to roll the dice and install the developer beta, check out our guide.

The new Bing widget on iOS is a chatbot shortcut.

Microsoft’s releasing a new Bing widget for iPhone users — it was already available on Android — designed to get you straight to engaging with its AI chatbot. There are two styles of the widget, one with wallpaper and a plain one.

Additionally, Microsoft has improved text-to-speech support in 38 languages, including Arabic, Croatian, Hebrew, Hindi, Korean, Lithuanian, Polish, Tamil, and Urdu, and said it improved the responsiveness of the voice input button.

The iOS Bing app auto-launches if you tap on the widget, and lets you initiate a chat quickly. The experience feels tighter assuming the Bing app is already running.

What the heck is meant by refresh rate anyway?

One of the specs that are always mentioned in reviews of phones is the display’s refresh rate. For those who have been secretly pretending to know what it means, here’s a quick rundown of how refresh rates affect your phone, and how to tweak them if you need to.

Even if you haven’t reached the lofty heights of iOS developer, you can still try a developer beta.

Apple has now made it possible for anyone to play with the developer beta of iOS 17. We tell you how to register for and install the latest version of the mobile OS beta. But at this point, it’s probably a good idea not to install it on your main phone — just in case.

NordVPN is looking into making a VPN app for Apple TV.

But the VPN provider needs more details before it commits:

“We are concerned that there may be some limitations for consumer VPN products and the update will only benefit B2B VPN solutions,” NordVPN PR Manager Egidijus Jurgelionis wrote in an email to The Verge, “If not, our users will be able to use NordVPN on their Apple TVs sometime in the nearest future.”

YouTuber Christopher Lawley asked developers and creators about their favorite features from WWDC 2023.

There are a lot of familiar faces in Lawley’s video if you like Apple-focused tech podcasts like many of those hosted by RelayFM.

It’s interesting what they’re looking forward to — Overcast creator and podcaster Marco Arment says SwiftUI code will be “way less error-prone,” while David Sparks of MacSparky called out what he says is much-improved dictation.
