Here’s a sneak peek at Google’s Find My Device service.

Google’s delayed version of Apple’s Find My feature may offer more granular privacy options than its iOS counterpart, according to screenshots shared on Telegram (via 9to5Google).

With the update, Android users could determine whether, and in what situations, their devices can be located with the Find My network — for instance, one option limits devices’ network participation to “high-traffic” areas only.

Twitter’s slipshod rebranding project runs into Apple’s App Store rules.

The app formerly known as Twitter is still listed as Twitter in the App Store, which, as pointed out by a few people, is likely due to Apple’s rules, which appear to bar anyone from shortening the marketing name in the App Store to a single character.

However, you can make the Home Screen name of an app a single character, which is how it now appears, along with the new icon.

The iPhone 15 Pro’s rumored action button sounds pretty useful.

The upcoming iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max are expected to come with an action button — similar to the one on the Apple Watch Ultra — that replaces the device’s ring/silent switch. But now, we have a better idea of what it might be able to do.

As spotted by MacRumors, code in the iOS 17 beta 4 suggests you can program nine different functions into the action button, potentially allowing you to quickly access the Camera app, turn on the flashlight, launch the Translate app, and more.

iOS 16.6 is out — time to update your iPhone.

Apple just released iOS 16.6 with “important bug fixes and security updates,” so go get your iPhones and such up to date. iPadOS 16.6, tvOS 16.6, macOS Ventura 13.5, and watchOS 9.6 are also available.

No specific features are mentioned in the release notes. You can update most Apple devices by going to Settings > General > Software Update.

Spectre, the AI-powered camera app for iPhones, is now free.

The app, which previously cost $1.99, uses AI stabilization to help users capture long-exposure photos — no tripod required.

As part of the update, Spectre is also introducing a $4.99 Pro option that unlocks five, nine, 15, and 30-second exposures (the free version allows for up to three seconds). If you’ve already purchased the app, you’ll automatically get Spectre Pro for free.

Maybe AirPlay to your Tesla.

Tesla’s latest iOS app release seems to include references to Apple’s AirPlay feature that lets iPhone users stream media and screen-share content to compatible displays. Tesla vehicles already have entertainment apps built-in, including YouTube, Netflix, and more (no Max, though).

But with AirPlay, you might be able to use services Tesla lacks or, at least, stream better-than-Bluetooth-quality audio.

iOS 17 is a lot of little updates that make a big impact

There’s no single must-have feature in Apple’s latest iPhone OS update, but a lot of little improvements make it worth getting excited about.
