Sony has published a new PS3 firmware update today, version 4.90. The notes just say the update “improves system performance,” but it comes weeks after methods to extract working PS2 and PS1 BIOS from PS3 firmware were discovered. That’s got PS3 owners wondering exactly what’s in Sony’s latest firmware update.

The big launch this week is Sony’s latest VR headset, which means new (and updated) VR games like No Man’s Sky, Gran Turismo 7, and Horizon Call of the Mountain.
Over in non-virtual reality, Cocaine Bear is in theaters, Glass Onion has director’s commentary, and if you just can’t wait for the next Super Mario game, you could always take a trip to the very video game-like Super Nintendo Land, designed in part by none other than Shigeru Miyamoto.
And for Apple Arcade subscribers, the excellent real-time narrative Lifeline is now available.

Work on the mode has “begun development,” according to Capcom, even though we’ve known for months that a PSVR 2-specific VR mode has been planned for the game. Seems like you won’t be able to play the game in VR when it launches on March 24th, but in the meantime, at least you can now play Resident Evil Village in VR.
