Some hard sci-fi to start your week.

The Invincible is a brief, harsh dose of sci-fi that strands players on an alien planet and then tasks them with figuring out just what the hell is going on. I really enjoyed my time with the game — check out my full review — and it launches today on the PS5, Xbox Series X / S, and PC.

    Stranger Things on stage.

We still don’t know when the next season of Stranger Things is coming, but Netflix has at least released some details on the upcoming prequel, The First Shadow. It’s set in 1959 and is billed as an origin story for a number of important Stranger Things elements including Vecna and the Upside Down itself — the twist is that it’s a stage show that opens up in London in December. You can get a taste for it in the teaser below.

    Overwatch meets K-pop.

The game’s first musical collaboration, which includes some new skins and a music video, culminated with a Le Sserafim performance closing out this year’s BlizzCon. If you missed it live, the band is posting clips on TikTok.

    A huge upset.

The return of the Overwatch World Cup — which has been on hiatus since 2019 — ended with the kind of upset few would have predicted, as Saudia Arabia topped China to win the two-day tournament at BlizzCon 2023. If you missed it, you can check out the full highlights right here.

    Feel invincible this weekend.

This week’s entertainment releases are headlined by the second season of Invincible, which has started streaming on Prime Video. Elsewhere, Sofia Coppola’s Priscilla is now in theaters, Quiz Lady is streaming on Hulu, and it’s a good time to catch up on Loki ahead of the season 2 finale next week.

When it comes to games, Fortnite has a big time-travelling update, there’s a new WarioWare for the Switch, Knotwords is now on Apple Arcade (as part of a great lineup of holiday releases), and Switch Online subscribers can check out some retro oddities.

And if you’re looking for something else to play, here are a few hidden gems from a very busy month of releases.
