Rogue Amazon employees are reportedly peddling bad review removals and more.

That’s according to this report from CNBC, which reveals that some Amazon employees are offering various services to third-party sellers on the platform through groups on Telegram, WhatsApp, and Facebook.

One group on Telegram has over 13,000 members, CNBC reports, allowing sellers to pay an Amazon insider to recover their accounts, get information on a competitor, and even remove negative reviews on a product. This kind of dealing isn’t anything new — a 2018 report from The Wall Street Journal suggested that some employees accepted bribes to get access to internal sales data.

It looks like Twitter is still working on ID-based verification.

App researcher Nima Owji has spotted a new label that appears when you click on a user’s blue checkmark, reading: “This account is ID verified.”

While Twitter, err... X, hasn’t actually confirmed that it’s launching a new ID-based verification method, findings from Twitter’s code suggest the platform has been working on this since at least March. If Twitter does start letting users verify their identity with some form of ID, it should hopefully help us better discern who’s an imposter and who’s not.
