Lose hundreds of millions of dollars in Bitcoin on an IronKey? Call these people.

Remember when we told you how one guy lost the password to $220 million? Wired reports that hackers have finally figured out how to crack the encrypted IronKey thumbdrive where those Bitcoins are stored.

But get this: the owner doesn’t (yet) want their help. Intriguing!

World’s most expensive pooper scooper just dropped.

I kid, I kid: it’s the Apollo 16 lunar soil scoop, an awesome vari-angle shovel with spring-loaded buttons, which just sold at auction for $874,998. One of those buttons attached it to an extension pole that’s reportedly still sitting on the Moon.

The Smithsonian has one like this too, though it’s apparently not on display.

This prop was definitely screen used.

I am always amused when Google truncates a headline.

My full hed is “Google’s seven-year Pixel update promise is historic — or meaningless,” but that’s not what I see in every desktop browser with every keyword I’ve tried. The important last word gets cut off.

I doubt there’s any foul play: Google’s robots truncate our Verge headlines regularly, and I can see the full headline on mobile! It’s just amusing to think readers will come in expecting a rather different story.

Valve is now reversing the AMD Anti-Lag related Counter-Strike 2 bans.

AMD’s Anti-Lag Plus feature got gamers banned — but it looks like that’s getting fixed. The game’s October 19th patch notes reads:

Added a startup check for incompatible AMD graphics drivers. We will now begin reversing VAC bans for affected players

Also: “Fixed a bug in Windows 11 Auto HDR that led to smokes intermittently disappearing”.

    Release Notes for 10/19/2023
