Would you order a yoke steering wheel with your Tesla? How about for an extra $250?

That’s the price Tesla has now put on the once default option.

Tesla’s refreshed Model S and X debuted with the now infamous yoke-style steering wheel in 2021 — apparently because CEO Elon Musk thought round wheels were “boring.” But one of its biggest drawbacks is that it lacks steer-by-wire like the Lexus RZ 450e.

The automaker finally caved and released a round steering wheel this year, which later took over as the default — and free — option.

Tesla claims its batteries are still usable after driving 200,000 miles.

In its latest impact report the company says its batteries still hold 88 percent of their original capacity after driving 200,000 miles. Not bad considering Tesla estimates that most US vehicles get scrapped after doing this many miles.

There are caveats which Electrek does a good job outlining, like the fact the data only covers Model S and X cars.

Elon Musk again promises full self-driving “this year.”

Twitter CEO and Tesla enthusiast:

“The trend is very clearly toward full self-driving. And I hesitate to say this, but I think we’ll do it this year.”

Sure, Elon. We’ve been hearing this since 2019.
