AI chatbots are coming to a takeout app near you.

Just Eat is trialling a new AI-powered chatbot that’s designed to add items to your shopping basket in response to a query like “egg and cheese mcmuffin from mcdonalds.” It plans to pilot the assistant with UK users in the next few weeks, with a wider rollout to follow. Coincidentally, rival Uber Eats also plans to launch a similar chatbot this year.

Welp.

Humane’s CEO, Imran Chaudhri said in an August video that the company looked forward to “being able to have a special moment” on the same day as yesterday’s eclipse, telling viewers to “look out for that.”

So what was Humane’s special moment? Well, it was a picture of the eclipse. That looks like the company’s logo. I guess we’ll just have to find out more on November 9th.

Humane seems to be teasing something regarding tomorrow’s solar eclipse.

The company, which has a logo that looks like an eclipse, has a whole thread about it. Notably, one tweet says that “in the US, [the eclipse] begins in Oregon at 9:13 AM PDT and ends in Texas at 12:03 PM CDT” — perhaps that’s when you should watch for news?

The summer, the company had teased some news for the eclipse, but it also plans to share more about its Ai Pin on November 9th. So who knows what’s really going on — guess we’ll have to wait until tomorrow to find out.

Behold: Ghostwriter in the flesh.

The person behind that hit AI Drake song “Heart on My Sleeve,” @ghostwriter977 on TikTok, is making what (I think?) is his first public appearance at Bloomberg’s Screentime conference in Los Angeles. He’s in disguise and speaking through a voice distorter, which is pretty good theater as far as business conferences go.

“Honestly, this is bigger than me,” he tells the crowd when asked why he wants to say anonymous. “AI is going to be a big part of our future and we need to prepare... it’s not about who I am.”

He calls “Heart on My Sleeve,” which garnered millions of views before it was taken offline at the request of Drake’s label, Universal Music Group, “an experiment,” and says he “won’t be uploading music again without participation of the talent.”

When didn’t he just ask Drake for permission beforehand? “I don’t have Drake’s phone number.”

OpenAI’s revenue is on pace to reach $1.3 billion a year.

The ChatGPT operator, which made $28 million in revenue last year, could be reaching the $100 million revenue mark each month in 2023.

Since partnering with Microsoft, OpenAI’s GPT large language models have made it not just an integral piece of Microsoft’s latest products but the de facto LLM for many companies interested in exploring generative AI.
